Car headlights of the future won't blind other drivers
Carnegie Mellon's work on headlights has made an appearance here before, where it's near-future smart headlights would parse raindrops and 'cancel' them

While corporate watchdogs hailed the record $2.5 billion settlement paid by Deutsche Bank to U.S. and U.K. authorities for its rate-rigging role in the massive LIBOR scandal, some noted that the fine—while large—suggests that some institutions are still considered "too big to jail."

Crystal is definitely creepy, perhaps useful, and almost certainly a look at how we'll communicate in the future.

If our minds are ruled by destructive emotions, by self-centredness, with little regard for others, we won’t be happy. As social animals we need to work together. With friends around us, we feel secure, happy and our minds are calm. We’re physically well too. When we’re filled with anger, fear and frustration, our minds are upset and our health declines. Therefore, the ultimate source of happiness is warmheartedness.

From hauling gear up a tower to securing a rescuer to an anchor, understanding how to tie and apply a handful of knots can be a time and life saving skill, and knot tying is just that: a skill. Whenever possible, avoid knots in fall protection, favoring factory terminations, anchor plates, ...

Really bad info. The picture of "Figure-8 on a bight" isn't a figure 8... It's a figure 9. And in the description of the aforementioned knot, it says it's an excellent "tie-in" knot... Anyone who knows anything knows it is literally impossible, by definition, to tie into a figure-8 on a night.

VideoAs the Hubble Space Telescope celebrates its 25th anniversary, it's easy to take for granted all we've learned thanks to its incredible discoveries. But don't forget that when it was first launched, the spherical aberration in the primary mirror caused all the images it was returning to be blurry and [...]

Introduction

Things that define my day and how I get through it :D))

Philosophical

This I tell you: decay is inherent in all conditioned things. Work out your own salvation, with diligence.

Do nothing today you would not be proud of tomorrow.

Live each day as though it was your last and one day you'll be right.

You don't know what you don't know.

Morality

When the Nazis came for the communists, I remained silent; I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats, I remained silent; I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists, I did not speak out; I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews, I remained silent; I was not a Jew.

When they came for me, there was no one left to speak out.

When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.

Some Physics Quotes..

Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds

If I have seen farther it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants

God does not play dice

I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the seashore, and diverting myself in now and then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary, whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me.

Bragging rights
I love to climb, in fact I only go to work because it pays for climbing. I love all art, I love to create things =^~_<^=

Occupation

If you were to say the food was excellent you would have to say the staff were amazing, I suffer from food allergies and normally eating out is a stressful affair but at restaurant the staff didn't make feel like a burden but like a guest, they all knew who I was from the booking and what I couldn't eat, they checked with the chef after I had chosen from the menu to be sure it was safe to eat. But beyond that they are friendly, professional, knowledgeable offering advice on the food and the menu. An absolute pleasure I would definitely visit again :))
