We've had a few spectacular sunrises and sunsets recently but this has to be one of the best, as so often happens it developed and faded in a few minutes from a situation that didn't seem too promising but luckily enough I had my camera nearby.

I was in Connemara for the weekend, managed to get down the Inagh Valley for a little while today, every time I go there it's different and everywhere you look there's a shot to be had.

A little Pano from yesterday morning, I had thought the sun might light up all the clouds but it didn't just work out that way.

This is the road between Allihes and Eyries in West Cork , Ireland, when you reach this stretch you've climbed over Reentrisk (Cods Head, visible on the right) from where you'll have seen across Kenmare bay to the mountains of Kerry and the Skelligs away on the horizon

On the Cork side of the Pass the road is different, a long series of loop and switch backs, technically demanding on the bike but exhilarating to ride down, unfortunately the trip down is a lot shorter than the hard slog up the other side.

It's been a late spring here in Ireland but finally the bluebells are in bloom down in Kilanthomas woods

Last week i went with my family for some well deserved R&R in the Turkish resort of Kusadasi, the first day or two that we were there the weather was warm (for an Irishman at least!!!) but unsettled and late one evening things came to a head with a very active thunderstorm. Airline baggage restrictions had forced me to leave my tripod at home so these are hand held ( and the R&R had included a few beers) so not the sharpest but you'll get some idea of the power of the storm.

Last weekend I went to West Cork to participate in a large public cycling event, the Rebel Tour, the course took us through 160km of some of the most spectacular and unspoilt countryside that I know of, twice we climbed the Healy Pass in the Caha Mountains between Counties Cork and Kerry, the first time in brilliant Autumn sunshine and then later in the evening when the mist had come in from the Atlantic, two different aspects of the same landscape both beautiful in their own way.

The next morning, when  I went back up in the car to take some photographs the mist was beginning to clear, another step in the cycle of Irish weather. This is the Kerry side with Kenmare Bay just visible in the distance, the road we had cycled up can be seen snaking around the side of the valley to the right.
