Worst hotel experience ever. This is my 3rd time staying here, and the longest at two weeks.The first time was for two days, the second time for a week, but I left a day early because a mouse in my room kept staring at me that time. The "free wireless" did not work any of those times. Talking to the front desk, they said they "just reset it, and it should be fine now". Telling them it is not fine, just seemed to cause an "atitude" with the night clerk. I work in IT. I know my way around setting up a wireless internet connection. I think they were just handing out the wrong password. None of the access points would take the password they gave me. The rooms are old, the first two stays here, they smelled of cigarette smoke, in a non-smoking room. The room I was in this last time was remodeled, and had no smell. The AC unit under the window would hardly work. Turning it even to low cool would cause it to freeze up after an hour or so. Luckily this was during the fall. The walls are paper thin, and you can clearly see daylight around the door frame. They advertise a fantastic weekly rate on their sign up front, but was told by the clerk that they no longer have those rooms available. Not that they were full, but that they weren't available. If they aren't available, they should specify that on the giant banner you can read from the interstate. I was traveling with my dog this last time. I had seen guests with dogs at this hotel before, and mentioned it when I checked in. The girl at the front desk said it was fine. But no, not really... at the beginning of my second week there, I was confronted by the proprietor of the hotel, who was verbally abusive to me about the dog being there, saying the room I was in was not a "pets allowed" room, and that I owe an additional pet fee. I told him I would gladly pay this fee when I received my next paycheck, 3 days prior to my checkout date. He wanted me to pay at least half of it that day, and I told him that wasn't possible, I didn't have it to spend, since I needed what little I had for food and gas. (I just started a new job in this town) He threatened to call the police, to kick me out at checkout time that day, and refund what would be left after this additional fee. It had me pretty stressed out, because I didn't have anything else lined up. Instead, he goes back to the office and charges my bank card the total of my remaining balance, without telling me, so I was flat broke for a week until I get paid again. He even called a few days later, threatening me again, and I told him again that I would pay the fee Friday, when I got paid, and he was once again rude and hung up on me mid-sentence. Once I did get paid, I went up to the front desk and the owner's wife laid into me about the dog and the room and was also verbally abusive to me. She calmed right down after I paid what they said I owed though. Funny how that works. When checkout time had rolled around, I was ready to be out of there. I will never stay at this hotel again, and would not recommend it to anyone. You cannot treat customers like that and expect repeat business.
