Born on the North Side of Chicago, oldest of four siblings, second generation Irish American, attended Catholic grade & high schools, attended Roosevelt University where my father worked. Majored in Public Administration/Business Law, became President of the Student Body and named the first student to the Board of Trustees. Hired by the U.S.DOT as a trucking inspector and quickly moved into inspecting chemical companies ensuring that they were offering hazardous materials for transportation properly. In 1994, was named U.S.DOT Hazmat Inspector of the Year and in 1996 was the lead investigator of the ValuJet Accident for my agency.
In 1997 was selected as the Region Chief in Atlanta, GA for the Office of Hazmat Enforcement inspecting chemical companies in eight states the Virgin Islands & Puerto Rico. Became President of my neighborhood subdivision of Dunwoody North (1,000 houses), served on the committee which pushed for incorporation and once the City of Dunwoody, GA was incorporated in 2008, I was later elected to an at-large position on the Dunwoody City Council serving over 40,000 residents.
I am married to Kristin and have three sons named Riley, Gavin & Declan.
