Neat blog post highlighting watercolor sketches of polyhedra by an anonymous artist (c. 16th century). They remind me of Leonardo da Vinci and Jamnitzer. This one is particularly cool because it features a "level 3" Sierpinski tetrahedron. Does anyone know if there's an earlier example?

Here's the blog: http://bibliodyssey.blogspot.com/2012/03/geometric-perspective.html

Here's the full collection online http://diglib.hab.de/wdb.php?dir=mss/74-1-aug-2f&distype=thumbs

Update: I noticed that this image of the spiraling broken torus (#79): http://diglib.hab.de/mss/74-1-aug-2f/start.htm?image=00079 is almost identical to this piece by Johannes Lancker (1567) http://www.mathe.tu-freiberg.de/~hebisch/cafe/lencker/perslit21.html

This was a great experience -- if rather intense at the time!
This is super awesome! Dr. John Hammersley, Overleaf co-founder, did an "Ask Me Anything" on Reddit and The Winnower have re-published it. It now has its own DOI and Altmetric score! https://dx.doi.org/10.15200/winn.145277.76794
