U.S. Memorial Plaque for Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin | NASA
"First Man in Space, April 12, 1961"
Dr. George M. Low, acting administrator of NASA, presented to the USSR on January 21, 1971, a plaque in memory of Soviet Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin who made the first flight into space on April 12, 1961. Accepting the plaque at the Moscow ceremony was Soviet General Kuznetsov, commander of the USSR's Star City space base, where cosmonauts have been training since 1960. Gagarin, who made history with his 1 hour and 48 minute flight, lost his life in a training accident on March 27, 1968.

The plaque is signed by NASA's John Glenn for Mercury astronauts, by James McDivitt for Gemini astronauts and by Neil Armstrong representing Apollo astronauts.

It did not take technology to spur the on-demand economy. It took masses of poor people.

The conventional narrative is this: enabled by smartphones, with their GPS chips and internet connections, enterprising young businesses are using technology to connect a vast market willing to pay for convenience with small businesses or people seeking flexible work.

This narrative ignores another vital ingredient, without which this new economy would fall apart: inequality.

There are only two requirements for an on-demand service economy to work, and neither is an iPhone. First, the market being addressed needs to be big enough to scale—food, laundry, taxi rides. Without that, it’s just a concierge service for the rich rather than a disruptive paradigm shift, as a venture capitalist might say. Second, and perhaps more importantly, there needs to be a large enough labor class willing to work at wages that customers consider affordable and that the middlemen consider worthwhile for their profit margins.
America’s bright and rich are creating a new class of landless peasants.

I can't get around very well anymore with my backbut love oriental food. The first time ordering delivery is from anyone is a crapshoot. No problem here. The order got to my door quick, hot, and portions were generous. All of the food was delicious. Anytime I want Chinese food this is my go-to place.
