The big bench build begins. It looked a lot better in the rehearsal but we will see tomorrow how big those gaps are.
Lots of planing fun.

Those of you with a keen eye will be able to spot the back of my head in one of these!

Here's my photos from the UK Maker Faire this weekend in Newcastle.  We taught 982 happy people to solder in 2 days!  :)

That look good. I am always worried about damaging the freezer so I normally go with plastic. Mind you with my freezer being only big enough for a bag of peas and some ice cubes I'll probably just stick with what comes to hand. Wooden spatulas have worked well in the past.

Just finished my first read through of +Tom Fidgen beautiful book The Unplugged Workshop. Its packed full of great tips and techniques. Really inspired to make a lot of the projects in here but also taking the ideas on to other things.
Big thanks to York Explore Library for ordering it in for me as well. I was jumping around like a small child when the text popped up saying it had arrived.
I'm off to buy some more wood.

Quite a poinient tale of how the climate is changing. Some beautiful descriptions of the area and his life there.

Good article...
I’m not a superstitious guy, but really, I should have known. I’m no meteorologist either, but after 35 years of living in the high country, even I knew that depending on how it set up, the weak El Nino the long-range forecasters were predicting could mean dry as much as it could mean wet. Still, after …

I am much liking the new Prodigy album.
Steve hosts a very special interview with Liam Howlett of The Prodigy. Steve is granted exclusive access to the studio of The Prodigy's main man, to listen to the source of their new album The Day Is My Enemy. Liam unlocks the stems of his music and discusses the influences which have seen him at the helm of one of Britain's biggest electronic acts for over 25 years. Steve and Liam talk about the beginning of the band, in the early 90's through t...

Under the watchful eye of Julian I managed to make a square bit of wood a bit rounder. Its great fun though. I think I could fit a lathe behind the sofa in my flat.

A really tasty fountains gold cheese sandwich and a superb coffee. They have a good selection of coffees and teas as well. Really friendly people serving a great coffee. A real gem.

A great cup of coffee and a nice cake. Relaxed in the sun on the terrace overlooking the dock.

A nice cup of coffee, decent sandwich and cake selection. Seating outside is away from the traffic. It may not be the most picturesque part of oxford but if you want a good cup of coffee in a quiet spot this could be the place for you.
