So I'm a 300lb (and dropping) commuter. I do 23 miles a day when I ride and I try and ride 4-5 days/week. I've always busted spokes on my back wheel every few weeks. I've gotten pretty good at making repairs but I think I'd like a stronger wheel. Do I have to have one made or are there any others with experience with other wheels? Thanks.
I have the disc version, and have only lost 3 spokes on the rear, after i jumped something this old man shouldn't do, especially on who weighs in excess of 300 lbs.
The only reason they broke, was because the the chain jumped and got caught between the cassette and spokes, and I started to pedal away, hard.
The spokes took a few days before they went, one by one, and have had zero spokes lost since.
With that being said, I'll probably lose some more, as that's the way my luck runs.
Otherwise, I'd guess that these wheels would do you, or any other Clydesdale as well as they have done me.
