MEANWHILE, IN AUSTRALIA...SAVE KIRRA, AGAIN

Our minds boggle, but a cruise ship terminal proposal is once again threatening the iconic Gold Coast wave. Surfers around the world are justifiably outraged that the Australian holy of holies is on the endangered waves list. Get involved and join the global surf community, including pros like Fanning and Parko, in taking a stand against the proposed development: http://surfl.in/1c1xYXu

Amazing view on the Bayshore Trail this AM. The water was perfectly glassy.

Great place to grab a sub. I love the Ed's Special on Dutch crunch. The pesto chicken was just so-so. I've had the turkey club as well and that was solid. The peak time lunch time can get a little long, but it moves fast. Service is always friendly.

A really nice office, with a great dining hall, meeting spaces, a decent gym, basketball courts, fancy landscaping, etc.

New York Pizza has saved me on many occasions. While it seems like everywhere in San Mateo closes by 9 pm, these guys are open late. It also always smells amazing inside and outside. The way a pizza place should smell. I've liked everything I've tried here so far - the bbq chicken pizza, buffalo chicken & bacon, the combo, and the chicken parm sandwich. The bbq chicken is my favorite so far. Small pizzas are only $8 and you can also get a "king kong" slice for $5 that's easily enough food for one person. Their customer service also deserves a mention. The other night I ordered a small combo pizza and they accidentally made a combo king kong slice instead. They ended up apologizing, gave me the king kong slice for free, and made the small pizza. I thought that was super cool, and it's little things like that which earn businesses loyal customers. The other great thing about NY Pizza is while you're waiting, you can run next door to Moon's and grab a beer. What's not to like about that?

Some of the best Mexican food in the Northwest. They have a fairly authentic California burrito, although it would be better if they put the cheese *inside* the burrito, cut back on the crispy potatoes a bit, and served it up with a boatload of salsa verde, but still...as it is it's pretty darn good. My favorite thing I've tried here is the chicken enchiladas verdes. Their chicken is some of the best chicken I've had - nicely simmered, falls apart, tons of flavor. Even my parents, who were telling me there's no Mexican food in Seattle as good as San Diego, thought Josefina's was great.

Nice staff, decent rooms for a short stay. Location is right in the middle of crack central in Belltown, however. For the money, I feel like there are a lot of other fully-furnished places that offer a lot more.
