In all my years of dealing with holidaymakers in all kinds of situations I have to say, the humanity shown to my guest in tragic circumstances by Ryanair and Aena at Arrecife airport this morning surpasses anything I have seen in years. WIthout disclosing too much of my guests personal situation, I went to the airport at 07.00 and explained to Rebecca at the Ryanair desk the circumstances of the tragic bereavement of a passenger on their flight from Arrecife to Luton at 11.15. I asked for their assistance and compassion to make the whole travelling home situation as easy as possible for my guest. I explained I would come back later with my guest to check in.
We returned to the airport at 09.15 and Rebecca and every single member of the staff were amazing. His baggage labels were ready in the office. His check in was done in seconds. They shook hands with the guest and showed him genuine compassion and kindness. They called personnel from Aena who came and took him to put his case on the carousel and to bypass the security queues. He was brought to the plane and boarded first and given a few moments to settle and compose himself.
i can only say a huge thanks to all the staff at Ryanair at their office and at check in this morning. Thank you for organising Aena. Thank you for the decency and humanity and compassion you showed today. You are a much maligned bunch of people. Well done Ryanair. Well done Aena. You are the best at Arrecife. Today will never be forgotten by me and everyone involved in this tragic case. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
