Did some fact checking..on one site the plane he was using is listed as:
Aircraft:Piper PA-32R-301 (Saratoga)
Note "Saratoga". If I look up the PA-32R-301 there are two versions produced during the period he was flying and both are Saratogas!
One was the PA-32R-301, Saratoga II, and the other PA-32R-301T..the Turbo Saratoga.
Now if he were flying the "Turbo" he would have been equipped not only with "advanced avionics" including a GPS but also auto-pilot. If it was the Saratoga II, I cannot say whether it had either a GPS or autopilot or any navigational electronics. I would like to think that a Kennedy with a penchant for nice things would only be flying the Turbo. If so it really raises a lot of issues.
