I love technology. I especially love Robots.

That's why it's so sad that I'm about to say...

Ex Machina is not a good movie :(

Happy Gwensday: First Update on Spider-Gwen costume
The second issue of Spider-Gwen is out today! It's fitting that my first post falls on an actual Gwensday. Since the first appearance of Spider-Gwen, I've wanted her costume. It also doesn't help when my husband handmade one of these: Joey's goal is to make...

If all goes well this weekend, I'll be 1 steps closer to two different dreams!

One involves side work as a programmer for a project/product that directly helps cats!

Let me repeat the important part of that... CATS!!! :D

It's forecasted to be in the 70s all week!
Winter in San Diego can be chilly, too -- if you don't have a sweater.

I'm doing a visit to a children's hospital in a few weeks in my homemade Spider-Man suit. I'm anticipating kids will want my signature. Any thoughts on how this should look?

Introduction
Joey wasn't born a Heck, but was born Joey Guevara. He made the switch when he married fellow Star Wars geek, Natasha M. Heck, in 2006. This is one example of him not being your average Joe. Joey is a vegan, but sometimes jokes about eating babies. He is quoted saying "Hey, you are what you eat, and I only eat vegan babies". He is Mayan on his dad's side, and zombie on his mom's. His favorite book is George Orwell's 1984, which is also the year of his birth. Joey loves kitties, especially his kitties Topher and Sophie. He loves cats so much that if granted two wishes by a genie, the second would be a lion robot that would double as a powered armor suit.

Sipz is near to my heart, as one of San Diego's longest vegetarian spots. I've tried many deserts, entrees, sides and desserts, and I like them all. I especially love the General Tso's for a spicy treat, and the tremendous flavor of the Salt and Pepper (though it sounds so plain!).

Good food served quickly. The staff was knowledgeable about ingredients and help me avoid the falafel since it contained egg. There were plenty of choices for a vegan meal.

Great variety of food and dessert. I decided to try a mexican theme and ordered nachos and tacos. The vegan nachos were great, though the cheese is intentionally cold, and it took a second to realize that. They use home made pickled jalapenos that have an incredible sweet flavor. The tacos had great flavor as well. At the time they still served oatmeal cream pie, and those were great. They've since updated the menu, but I've never had a meal I didn't like.

We dined at Plumeria because of their wide selection of vegan options. I enjoyed the Satay with it's sweet cucumber 'salad' (more of a relish) and peanut sauce. I had the Garlic Pepper entree, and it was very good. I was a bit jealous of my wife's choice of dish, named Tangerine. It closely resembles a Sweet and Sour dish you might find at an Americanized Chinese restaurant. The service was excellent, with several people making sure our waters were full, or empty dishes were removed. The price was very reasonable. I'll be returning to Plumaria often.

I really enjoyed the food at Araya's Place. We dined in on a Friday night around 7pm and I think an employee called in sick because the service was slow and one of our group didn't have the meal served until after everyone else was finished. They did remove that item from the bill after we requested it.

We were invited to a special event at Spreckels Theatre during Comic Con to watch the premier of Outlander with the actors and the author of the books. The theater was beautifully decorated for the event, but I don't know what it would look like without the scottish theme. We watched the show on the projected screen, along with live musical performances by the show's composer, and a bagpipe performance. After the show the actors and show creators were interviewed on stage. The Spreckels theatre is wonderful for a classical theater experience.

My wife and I were invited to a pre-opening event, so my review reflects our free meals. This is the 3rd location in San Diego County (Encinitas and Point Loma are already open). The location is perfect for me, since I work a few minutes away, and it's under 20 minutes from my home. We arrived for the event and joined the line of people also excited to try the new menu at the all plant based eatery. We were told to choose an appetizers, meal, side, beverage and desert. The menu prices are fine, but an order that large can hit the $25/person range. I decided to be adventurous and pick some of the new items. The nachos were fantastic, with house pickled jalapenos having a sweet flavor I very much enjoyed. My Twisted Twister Wrap full of crispy Native Chicken and buffalo sauce was not my favorite entree (I miss the meatball sub!), though it did hit the spot. I always order the lemon dill potato salad, it's one of my absolute favorite items at Native Foods. For dessert, the Spicy Chocolate cake was a real treat. The nice flavor of chocolate with the mild intensity heat from the cayenne pepper is very enjoyable. I love the layout of this new location, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I also hope to see some events in this space, as it looks like it was designed to hold a lot of people with the tables and chairs cleared. The staff (though in training) was very friendly, and aside from some very minor mistakes (forgetting to hand beverage cups at the register), everything was great! Native foods is one of the main places I take non-vegans who are picky because the food is excellent, and there is always something for everyone to enjoy!
