"One of the most basic #beliefs we carry about ourselves, Dweck found in her research, has to do with how we view and inhabit what we consider to be our #personality. A “#fixed #mindset” assumes that our #character, #intelligence, and #creative #ability are static givens which we can’t change in any meaningful way, and #success is the #affirmation of that inherent intelligence, an assessment of how those givens measure up against an equally fixed standard; striving for success and avoiding #failure at all costs become a way of maintaining the sense of being #smart or s#killed. A “#growth mindset,” on the other hand, thrives on #challenge and sees failure not as evidence of unintelligence but as a heartening springboard for growth and for stretching our existing abilities. Out of these two mindsets, which we manifest from a very early age, springs a great deal of our behavior, our relationship with success and failure in both #professional and personal contexts, and ultimately our capacity for #happiness."

"Today, in our culture of productivity-fetishism, we have succumbed to the tyrannical notion of “work/life balance” and have come to see the very notion of “leisure” not as essential to the human spirit but as self-indulgent luxury reserved for the privileged or deplorable idleness reserved for the lazy. And yet the most significant human achievements between Aristotle’s time and our own — our greatest art, the most enduring ideas of philosophy, the spark for every technological breakthrough — originated in leisure, in moments of unburdened contemplation, of absolute presence with the universe within one’s own mind and absolute attentiveness to life without, be it Galileo inventing modern timekeeping after watching a pendulum swing in a cathedral or Oliver Sacks illuminating music’s incredible effects on the mind while hiking in a Norwegian fjord."

"Recent evidence suggests that a promising approach is to complement #psychological #counseling with additional activities that are not too taxing for clients but yield high results. In our own research, we have zeroed in on one such activity: the practice of #gratitude. Indeed, many studies over the past decade have found that people who #consciously #count their #blessings tend to be #happier and less #depressed. "

We process events, experiences, and situations in life through our personal filter. In other words, we judge events, experiences and situations, through our ESTABLISHED, thought, emotional and behavioral patterns, as well as beliefs, values, and inner blocks, which are elements that make up our personal filter or strongly influence it. The confluence of all these elements within our personal filter determines our attitude, mindset, and emotional intelligence. To become conscious or to live consciously is to challenge oneself to start processing events, experiences, and situations in life with a brand new filter, particularly if we feel that our current filter is no longer serving us. The longer we cling to our old filters, the harder it is for us to be conscious - be happy, successful, fulfilled and healthy. How are your personal filters affecting your view of the world and yourself? What might happen, if you challenge yourself to see the world and yourself through different filters? What might your life look like then?

In my latest #Doorway to #Conscious #Leadership video, I explain why you would want to #embrace, #accept or be #open to #change. How might your #life be different, if you embraced, accepted or were open more to change?

----
Are you feeling stuck in the status quo? Is there something about yourself or your life that you'd like to change, but you can't seem to figure out how? What if I told you that the key to achieving your goals and manifesting your dreams is transforming yourself to a Conscious Leader. . . In this video, I explain one of iPEC Coaching's 33 Foundation Principles. These are principles that have changed my life, and my hope is that you will also find them useful in changing your life. These principles enable us to become conscious leaders, because they introduce us to new ways to looking at ourselves and at life. They are a doorway to Conscious Leadership.

This video covers, Principle #7, "The Only Constant is Change."

Thank you, and remember to lead consciously!

"When you're frazzled from your #high #stress job, taking a #vacation seems like the obvious #solution. But #science shows that commonsense impulse to pack your bags and get away actually often backfires."

"Everyone can occasionally find themselves prey to heavy #thoughts, which is a natural response to #emotional #sadness and #anxiety. Forcing yourself to be #positive under every circumstance is a constant strain and undesirable as a realistic view of life. If heavy thoughts keep returning, however, and begin to attach themselves, you need to know how to lift yourself out of the gloom."
