An interesting little game that, despite my initial fears, leaves your options wide open - that seems to be a tool to gather information about how various demographics feel about policies.  While I'm sure policy wonks will have all kinds of things to say about its accuracy/fairness, it seems solid enough for handwaving.

So +Ryan Fox-Lee recently invited me to LearnedLeague, which is an online trivia league of sorts. This weekend there was a one-day math-themed quiz (not usually a focus).  It was pen-and-paper only, no calculators, no reference, just a pen and paper with you and your brain.  Between a plane ride and some other downtime, I did way too much math this weekend.

Here a few of the best photos from my St. Helens hike, to share them publicly and hopefully with Google Maps. What a gorgeous mountain!

Hey +A Play On Nerds , Google PlusGoogling you a Plus: I'm only one episode behind, and wanted to share one of my favorite Middle Ages fact that is relevant to an offhand bit at the beginning of episode 30: in the Middle Ages, once you got to adulthood, you were generally good until you were 60 or so, and 70 or even 80 wasn't unheard of.

The average age was indeed 35 or so, but that's mostly because lots of people died as babies or before they got to adulthood - perhaps as much as 40%, bringing the "average" age down, and hiding all the old people.  Math!
