Yesterday, someone barging into the shot, made it. Today, the interrupter takes away while adding more. Self-titled “photo bomber” is more literal, given that’s a plane rising. Risto Kuulasmaa is right to keep this pic, which he captured on May 29, 2015,…

It's customary to be polite on a birthday. #iphone
Happy Birthday! iPhone is 8 years-old today. Oh my, it seems so much longer ago because so much has changed. Think back. Eight years ago, there was no Android. YouTube was but 18 months available to the public, and Facebook or Twitter only about a year. There was no market for tablets, or smartwatches.

I ased BetaNews readers what they like about #windows10 , and they answered.
Let the countdown begin. One month from today, July 29th, Microsoft releases Windows 10. Three weeks ago we asked what you like about the operating system. Many of you are testers, and keeping with the spirit of the

I don’t think much of modern, electricity-producing windmills. Surely there will be negative environmental effects on wildlife (eh, birds) and air currents (eke, weather), when solar is free energy if only we would take more of it. But I do think much of…

Thermal solar is the way to go. The technology employs hundreds of mirrors focused on a tower, which creates steam and drives turbines. It is non-toxic, unlike photovoltaic systems. It is also more efficient.

This could generate so much energy in the vast wasteland of the Mojave desert.

My wife really loves my #chromebookpixel , which she will never return. Her laptop died, and now I've got #macbookpro  for the summer. Oh my.
Reviewing most any MacBook Pro is a pointless exercise, because this year's model isn't much different from the previous—or the one before. That's why I typically buy refurbished rather than new. But I broke with that practice last month, after a sudden electrical calamity laid my wife's laptop to rest. Fried and died it is. With Apple releasing new versions of iOS and OS X and launching a streaming music service, a summer sojourn seemed opportun...

Have to agree, I love my Pixel LS. I'd adapted to the compromises (hello Cloud!)  because the core browsing experience is by far the best on any laptop.

My experience covering the original iPhone launch 8 years ago today. Excerpt:

“I think this is a day that you’re going to see a change in how computers, how handheld computers are done”, iPhone buyer Steve told me yesterday afternoon. “It’s a little marketing history. I’m seeing it that way…I think we’ll look back in 10 or 15 years, and like on that day the gadget came out—same thing with iPod—it changed the game”.

He was right about change, but wrong about how little time.

Maybe the iPhone phenomenon is about purpose or community, making people feel like they can participate in something important or unusual. My wife put forth that theory this …

With plenty of smartphones already out, it was just about really great marketing. Apple marketing. The story really should be about amazing marketing, and how it alters memories and history.

Introduction
I am an award-winning journalist, writer, and real Maniac, being born and raised in Caribou, Maine. But I currently live with my immediate family far from home, in San Diego, Calif.

I am an experienced analyst, consultant, editor, journalist, and storyteller. My communication skills are broader than just the written word. I have appeared on CNBC, Fox News, MSNBC, NPR, PBS, and other radio or TV networks or programs discussing technology and its related cultural and business impact.

During the second decade of the Millennium, my main worklife focus is producing original content, which could make you the star. I contend that "every life is epic", and through storytelling show by how much.

I am available for editing, writing, or speaking gigs and can be reached by Gmail, or you can private Circle or Hangout. Be warned, if you want to hire me: My investigative storytelling style is provocative. I want people to think about things from different viewpoints.

They say you can judge someone by their playlist or what they read. I subscribes to:

  • Economist, Nature, and Rolling Stone on iPad
  • New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Washington Post on web and digital devices
  • Entertainment Weekly, Mother JonesNew Yorker, and Vanity Fair in print, on web, and digital devices

But often the most valuable content comes not from paid professionals but people posting to social networks (hehe, Google+), Medium, and blogs.

Got my driver's license at 25, because I biked (or walked) everywhere.
