My BetaNews colleague +Wayne Williams bought #applewatch . He smartly gives a 24-hour first-impressions review. Some tidbits that the Google+ audience might appreciate:

" I like the interface, but it’s not what I’d call intuitive".

"Working out how to change the default watch face isn’t quite so obvious".

"The device itself is quite chunky, and not particularly stylish, although it's far from ugly".

"Battery life is unquestionably an issue...my phone’s battery life seems greatly reduced now Watch is connected to it"

"I think overall I will grow to like Watch, maybe even love it, but it’s going to be about working out how it fits into my life, and understanding, and tolerating its shortcomings".

I love an honest reviewer, which Wayne proves himself to be post after post. I do unfairly excerpt some of the negatives, but, hey, it's a Google fanclub where I share his story. Know thine audience.

Click though and comment, particularly if you also own Apple Watch. You can only help other people considering buying one.
After Tim Cook demoed the Apple Watch at the Spring Forward event two months ago I declared I should want an Apple Watch -- but I don't. Despite being an iPhone owner and a watch wearer, I felt the new device was an

Our relationship is this: We tolerate one another. #nexus9
I want to love Google-branded, HTC-manufactured Nexus 9. But ours is a contentious relationship. N9 is not a bad tablet; others offer better value and performance for the price (or less), with Apple iPad mini being high among them. That said, if pure (aka stock) Android is your thing, there is no worthy alternative. Just prepare for a few compromises, particularly if moving up from Nexus 7.

I believe it was the first batch when the Nexus 9 first come out that had that issue along with light bleed.

File this under less is less and more is more. Money quote:

_"Apple could have made a Retina MacBook Air instead of (or in addition to) this new MacBook, but chose not to. Instead, we have major compromises on previous invariants. Until now, since I started buying Macs 11 years ago, Apple had never shipped a laptop with a keyboard or trackpad that was less than great. They recognized that a laptop without a good keyboard wasn’t a good laptop, even if a lot of people would be OK with it and buy it anyway.

Now, Apple’s priorities have changed. Rather than make really great products that are mostly thin, they now make really thin products that are mostly great"._

Marco should know.

We should all have dreams. If +Wayne Williams is right Microsoft's nightmare could end.
It’s no secret that Microsoft has an app problem. The Windows Store is full of unexciting knock-offs, and it’s rare for quality releases to appear there these days. While many Windows Phone devotees will claim the

It isn't the lack of "apps", it's the lack of very specific apps.  Case in point, my bank, even though it's a small credit union, has an app for android, and iOS, but not windows phone.  I have a windows 8.1 phone, which I bought to compliment my android tablet and my iOS ipod touch as testing devices for development.  It's a small example, but it's I believe a common and important one.  Given the ubiquity of the other two platforms, they're pretty much universally adopted now and I'd argue that you can put all the games and social apps you want on a phone, but if there isn't adoption of apps that have "real use" phone users (such as bank and credit card apps), adoption of windows will still be slow.

Introduction
I am an award-winning journalist, writer, and real Maniac, being born and raised in Caribou, Maine. But I currently live with my immediate family far from home, in San Diego, Calif.

I am an experienced analyst, consultant, editor, journalist, and storyteller. My communication skills are broader than just the written word. I have appeared on CNBC, Fox News, MSNBC, NPR, PBS, and other radio or TV networks or programs discussing technology and its related cultural and business impact.

During the second decade of the Millennium, my main worklife focus is producing original content, which could make you the star. I contend that "every life is epic", and through storytelling show by how much.

I am available for editing, writing, or speaking gigs and can be reached by Gmail, or you can private Circle or Hangout. Be warned, if you want to hire me: My investigative storytelling style is provocative. I want people to think about things from different viewpoints.

They say you can judge someone by their playlist or what they read. I subscribes to:

  • Economist, Nature, and Rolling Stone on iPad
  • New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Washington Post on web and digital devices
  • Entertainment Weekly, Mother JonesNew Yorker, and Vanity Fair in print, on web, and digital devices

But often the most valuable content comes not from paid professionals but people posting to social networks (hehe, Google+), Medium, and blogs.
