Why Will Facebook Fail? Because they just don't care about the bottom line or customer service. It's ironic, really, that a multi-billion dollar business that started by accident on a college campus is still being run as though its a hobby. For example, they put in place basic security measures to make sure that people aren't linking to porn or other offensive content. This is responsible, and expected. They drop the ball, however, when they fail to actually make sure that this automated system functions properly, and they fail to offer a reasonable dispute system for when they make a mistake.
I own several business'. The newest of which is a party rental business...moon bounces, tents and tables, concession equipment. This is our first full year running this business, and as with any new business generic search rankings are very important. Under the current google algorithm, facebook likes and links factor heavily. This is where the irresponsibility of Zuckerberg and Co. is harming their bottom line. Harming their bottom line, essentially threatens their very existence. As someone who pays to advertise on facebook for 4 different business', why would I continue to spend money with them for ANY of my business' when they won't work with me on the 5th one? For exactly 45 days, I have completed the feedback form (8 times per day) that appears when I attempt to post a link to my new business, for seo purposes. In 45 days of non-response, facebook is telling me that my money, and my business is not important to them. I am one man, attempting to advertise one business. According to US government data, there are more than 23 million small businesses in our country. Lets say that I spend $100.00 per week advertising on facebook, and that 10% of the business' in America are having the same issues with Facebook that I am experiencing. That is $230,000,000.00 per week facebook is leaving on the table. 52 weeks in a year, means that facebook would be leaving almost 12 billion dollars of potential revenue behind. Yep. This is a smart company we are dealing with here. In reality, it is probably far less than 10% of business in America having an issue of this nature. But also in reality, A responsible business would be watching closely enough to realize that there is a gaping hole in their system that is costing them money. How much money doesn't matter. money is money, and any business needs it to exist. End of rant. #facebookfail #zuck #lessthansmart #facebookselfdestruction #facebookisscrewingme #igiveup #facebook
