Perfect is the Enemy of Good

I have had a problem with perfectionism for a long time. Perfectionism can hurt your ability to accomplish your goals. It’s pretty simple, but the idea is that if you are a perfectionist, and you hold yourself to such a high standard that any sort of failure is unbearable then it will be very difficult to get things done, and you’ll likely be miserable.

Google #job alert in #NYC

The Local Content and Community team is looking for a highly organized person with a great visual aesthetic to take the lead on all photo-related strategy and asset management. This is an important hybrid role involving overseeing the photography style and production on numerous platforms within Content and Community, as well as establishing scalable and efficient asset-management processes. Applications range from Zagat platforms to Google Maps’ power user communities (+Google Local Guides ). You are as comfortable about talking best practices for shooting hamburgers as you are discussing metadata for photo assets.

Walk down memory lane

Photos help us reminisce about the things we've done, bringing back events from one, two, or even ten years ago. Today, Google Photos is introducing a new opt-in feature where you can choose to privately rediscover your memories from the past. If you snapped photos on a hiking trip this time last year, chances are that Google Photos will let you know. And with a lifetime’s worth of photos and videos in one place, you’ll have lots of memories to look back on.

By opting in, you’ll get cards in the Assistant view reminding you of photos from events in your past, including a collage featuring people and places from that day. Share with whoever you want, however you want, whether that’s via email, a social network, or by showing the person next to you. Or savor the moment for yourself; it’s completely private until you decide to share.

The new feature is rolling out today in the Google Photos app on Android, iOS, and at http://photos.google.com

What you should bring to +Salesforce's #dreamforce !

(I get asked this a lot- here are my tips!)
Well, if you told me in 2010 that I would be attending Dreamforce 4 times in row (2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015), I would have called you crazy. However, over the last 4 conferences, I have learned qu...

This place is all sorts of awesome. Rocking a retro-chic/hipster (not sure what to call it) in the rooms, it enhances the building outside architecture. It's much nicer on the inside than the exterior would lead you to believe. Friendly staff who found us a room on a Saturday night (which in LA is no small feat). Free wifi, nice inroom mini bar selection (with the typical eye watering prices), and solid bathroom/shower setup. Road noise can be a little loud at times but they give you free earplugs just in case.

A wonderful hidden gem. Some of the best Mexican food I've had in the states! Small shop, so seating during rush times can be tricky. Burritos are chipotle "sized" (aka LARGE) so bring your appetite. Try the barbacoa, it's AMAZING!

One of the larger Cost Plus' I've ever been in. Has a great selection of wine and craft beer. Check out the picnic stuff!

A nice new hotel. Great open lobby space, with a ok sized indoor pool and gym. Nice patio area with plenty of parking. Wifi speed are pretty meh, but it does cover the hotel cleanly (could stream Netflix fine on my FireTV Stick). Good kitchen. Can be tricky to get to from 100 (two entrances, both on one side of a median). Very attentive and nice staff.

This is the place you park if you are taking advantage of the dog beach section of HMB. A tiny lot at the end of a residential street, it's usually a crapshoot if the parking machine (which takes card) is working. On the plus side, it seems to be rarely patrolled. A fairly steep hill takes you right to the beach, which you have to share (partly) with horses/other dogs. Right by the bike path that runs along the beach.

One of the smaller Panda Express' locally. Nice staff, very quick, and usually not *too* busy. Nice menu selection and I do love their fortunes.
