Transparency is the new Marketing!!
It’s become quite vogueish in the tech world to publish a culture book. It’s increasingly recognised as an important part of the mix when starting up and building a business, espoused by business leaders like Zappos’ Tony Hsieh. It’s something we’ve been working on – hard – at Techdept for the last four years or more. We realised early on that our culture was a sustainable competitive advantage: our secret sauce! Someone could set up down the roa...

Do you think its about the time that we all hacked our own coding degree????
I was recently asked to contribute to an article in The Guardian about the risk of British businesses falling behind as a report stated that UK enterprise needed an extra 745,000 digitally skilled workers in the next 3 years.  I wasn’t too complimentary about the state of the traditional method to learn coding skills. My …

I truly do believe that user generated content is centric to the future of marketing. We now have the opportunity to engage our customers and allow them to join in with marketing their favourite brands.
User generated content is not a new tactic but with advances in social media we are seeing something really special sprouting upwards with modern marketing

AirBNB are such a fantastic company with an amazing future. This post looks into how they conduct experiments!! Go check it out right now. Seriously it's so worth it!!!!!
Airbnb is an online two-sided marketplace that matches people who rent out their homes (‘hosts’) with people who are looking for a place to stay (‘guests’). We use controlled experiments to learn and make decisions at every step of product development, from design to algorithms. They are equally important in shaping the user experience. While …

I think there is a time and a place for it. I mostly agree with this though. I think social automation tools let the lazy marketers be lazy. Social media done well is hard.

Its a two-way conversation after all and brands over and over again seem to forget that very important point.

This great whitepaper from the New York Times is fantastic. I think its extremely important for marketers to read articles like this and form our own methods for solving the issues, instead of just copying what everyone else is doing.

Great article showcasing a problem most of us probably have quite often - 'How do we explain to our family what we do for a living'?

I do still believe the techie side of internet marketing is fading. It may be a bold statement now but I don't think it would if I repeated it in 12 months time!
