In the summer of 1957, 300 employees of the General Silk Corp. in Lonaconing, Maryland went home on a Friday afternoon and when they returned to work on Monday, the factory was locked up. The building and everything inside it had been sold. I spent Sunday taking pictures inside. Everything is pretty much in the same place as it was when the workers left for the last time, albeit in a decaying, decrepit state. More pictures to come. Thanks to +A.D. Wheeler
for organizing the tour!
