I have watched both of Joe's visits to the top of the +Burj Khalifa and even though I know he made it back safe and sound, it's still a bit nerve-wracking.  This was filmed earlier this year as Joe made a descent with the window washers who do this every.  Single.  Day.  There is no end to the sand in the desert and they clean away the sand just dangling by a rope.

Joe's friend Mawgie is pretty much how I picture an angel.  Here's how he made that angelic lighting happen.

He writes, "Improvisation ruled the day. Took a Nikon SB900 and zoomed that puppy to 200mm, and snookered it even further with a Honl snoot. Tried that alone, and the results were predictably harsh. Not too much spill, but bad dog light. Dropped a Lastolite Tri-Grip diffuser panel over it, and got soft light, and way too much of it. Not in terms of power, just in spread.
Out came the gaffer tape. (Is there anything in this world that can’t be made better with gaffer tape?) When we were done, there was maybe a 6″ square of diffuser left exposed. The rest of the panel is gaffered.
Amazing what a little diffusion will do. We went from harsh, awful light to just enough softer glow to cover the face and shoulders, but not dull the wings."

For me, fireworks are just so special and happen so fast that I attempt to photograph each burst.  Of course, I fail epicly.  Joe has some tips for shooting fireworks that may help yours look less like holiday lights on acid and more like actual fireworks.

Joe is in China this week and here he captures two players, one young, one old, playing a board game of ancient origins.  A GO pottery board was discovered which dated to the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC - 24 AD).  Clearly, it's a game with a rich history and I, for one, am thrilled to see that it is still being played.

1986 marked the 100th birthday of Lady Liberty.  Of course Joe wouldn't miss a party like that.  There were thousands of ships on hand, or rather, in the water that day.  What a sight!

Tina Trinh of ABC World News Now visited Joe and the gang at the Wedding Truck the first week of June.  Here's a behind-the-scenes look at Joe's world for 48 hours and some of the couples who shared their day.

Many thanks to +NikonUSA for putting together some of the stories that surrounded the families who gathered in Manhattan to get married a few weeks ago.  The weather wasn't great and yet, to me, it was picture perfect.
