I just came here for Princess Sophie's 1st year anniversary! Fun place to celebrate her big day! Foods are plenty and yummy. I really enjoy the roasted chicken, chicken nuggets, all sorts of salads (curry chicken, pesto chicken, and orzo), and many many sweet treats! The service is outstanding. Our cast member Marco demonstrated his magical cake-cutting skills. The whole place just has a magical vibe! I will love to come back here to celebrate my birthday. LOL

I stumbled upon Stoneside Blinds & Shades (SBS) in the midst of my renovation epic. I was surprised by how easy it is to set up an appointment online via live chat and within minutes I was scheduled to meet with Kathy. Kathy is such a wonderful and bubbly person, and I can tell right away from the way she dresses she will be a wonderful consultant for interior designs! Within an hour, Kathy got all my measurements done and ready to go without any hassle. I finally got my shades in recently and really enjoy the results. The price is also highly competitive, as I am quite a bargain shopper myself. I highly recommend SBS for your one-stop window treatment destination!

Hanna's Gourmet, hands down, is my favorite place since I moved to SD. It is located on the rapidly growing Adams avenue with a cute little patio attached to the main dining area. I have been here for breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner. I have to break each down as their menu changes from week to week! Breakfast: I have tried pretty much everything on their menu, and my favorite is the Africana Omelette, which includes curry-flavored fava beans with yogurt (I think) sauce. I also lover their prosciutto spinach and basil mushroom omelette. Hanna (yes, we are on first-name basis) douses the omelette with a splash of pesto, and it is heaven I put in my mouth! Honorable mention: carrot cake pancake and vegetarian breakfast sandwich. Lunch: Get the rosemary chicken sandwiches! It is a blend of big chunk juicy meat topped with basil, garlic, melted cheese, and came with a simple mixed green salad on the side. One caveat is that the sandwich can be quite a messy feast, so you probably don't want to eat it on the go (I learned it the hard way). Snack: Hanna's desserts are DIVINE. From flourless chocolate or rosemary apricot cookies, to blood orange poppy seed cheesecake, everything just tastes so good. Please just try everything! (oh, also there is the perfect carrot cake to die for!). Dinner: Again, try everything that is on the menu! I have had seared salmon with noodles, Thai burger (OMG). Ok I have to end here abruptly as I am running to Hanna down the street! Not only Hanna cooks good food, her and husband are also the sweetest people. They will occasionally walk around the cute little restaurant to chat up with customers. It just feels like home to me (not that I will complain if I get to live in the restaurant and eat everything in the display case). Another nice little surprise is that if you bring your receipt back to the restaurant they give you a 5% off discount for your next visit. I simply can't love Hanna's Gourmet enough!

I tend to give everyone/everything a second chance. Unfortunately, Isabel's Cantina (IC), in this rare case, will probably not see me ever again. I visited IC first time with my parter-in-crime MelC. We were promptly seated down and ordered. However, our orders did not arrive for a good 20-30 min despite of the fact that the restaurant is half-empty! We ordered the double happiness lettuce wraps, which tastes pretty decent and is loaded with food. We have also tried the Brazilian bowl and tamales. They were good, but not blowing-my-mind good. I came back again with Scruffy and pretty ordered the same thing. Again, it took a good 30min before we saw anything on the table. Combining its lackluster food and service, I just don't think IC is my type of place to hang. Next!

Every time when I go to have brunch at Snooze next door (btw it's a great brunch place), my eyes are always attracted by D Bar for its modern, industrial, and chic decor. Finally,I made it here one night to grab dinner with a friend. I had the Ahi tuna dish on a bed of rice. It was tasty but a bit underwhelming and not very satisfying. Then I tried the desserts, which is supposed to be the signature of item of this place. We ordered the Banana Imposter. Again, I was a bit underwhelmed. My overall experience was just A-Ok, but I will want to come back for another try.

The Patio on Lamont St, like the name suggests, has a very open and inviting patio seating. The whole restaurant has an open concept: the bar leads to the patio through huge floor to ceiling windows. We came here on a Friday afternoon for the Happy Hour (3-6 pm, everyday). The HH menu offers a wide variety of wine, cocktails, and small bites option. Well, the small bites are actually big bites, as the portions are quite decent for the price (less than $10). I opted for a chilled glass of Furmint, Slovenia. It was very delightful and light, perfect for a summer late afternoon/early evening! I will definitely come back to try their brunch and dinner, which many people say good words about!

Just your typical neighborhoody Starbucks. The location is clean, convenient, and the service and staff is quick and easy. No complaint here. They do have clover coffee though!
