So just listened to the last two episodes of the Full Circle Weekly News. For those who are unaware, +Full Circle Magazine  is a freely distributed magazine for Ubuntu Users. Full Circle Magazine now puts out a weekly podcast of Ubuntu, Linux, and Open Source news read by +Ronnie Tucker  . I highly recommend it to anybody interested in Open Source in general, and Linux in particular. It's short: under 10 minutes, so it's worth giving a try.

And Ronnie:  I've been meaning to get to it.  Sorry it's taken me so long to get on board, but it's in my podcast aggregator now so I won't miss any.  Good stuff.  Thanks for your assistance to the community.  Know that it is greatly appreciated. I'll be mentioning this at my LUG next time I'm there.

Signal is pretty great. If it's good enough for Snowden, it's good enough for me. The desktop client is in Beta. There is a waiting list. There's an iOS and Android version (and also, oddly enough, an Android version compiled for Sailfish OS).
Join the beta. Today we're making the Signal Desktop beta available. Signal Desktop brings the trusted private messaging experience of Signal to the desktop, with a simplicity that allows you to seamlessly continue conversations back and forth between your mobile device and your desktop computer ...

So I need a survey filled out for my Intro to Data Analytics class.  It's very short.  Less than 5 minutes, generally.  The last page of demographic information is entirely optional (and it's just Age, Gender, Number of people in household).

I'd appreciate anyone who could fill out the survey, and share this post.  If you've seen this on facebook, you can obviously ignore it here.

Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual. - Thomas Jefferson

So if you've ever wanted to learn how to do Version Control, and Git in particular, +Codecademy has you covered.
Codecademy is the easiest way to learn how to code. It's interactive, fun, and you can do it with your friends.

+Kevin Bryant Yeah. I keep learning Git and then not using it. I'm going to learn it and use it this time though, for school projects

F**k you Dell. This is why you have to be careful where you buy your computers. Better yet, build your own. This is getting ridiculous.
Dell ships laptops with rogue root CA, exactly like what happened with Lenovo and Superfish

While the attacks in Paris are terrible, and we should stand with France, let us not forget our brothers and sisters in Lebanon as well.  If you don't know, ISIL attacked Beirut the day before the Paris attacks.   It wasn't as large an attack:  two suicide bombers.  The second bomber in Beirut was foiled by a man who jumped on him, sacrificing his life to save the lives of others.  While we reflect upon the horror and tragedy in Paris, let's not forget about the horror and tragedy in Beirut.
On Saturday the world woke up to tragedy. Carnage in Beirut and Paris. In what seems to have been th...

Gay Bear, Writer, Avatar of Insomnia
Categorized For Easy Reading

About Me(brief)

Gay Bear, partnered.  Techie, geek, Open Source fan, Ubuntu and OS X user, Python Programmer, Avatar of Insomnia.  I like Research for Research's Sake.  I am a huge fan of SETI.  I'm an ENTJ, if that kind of stuff matters at all.  I like Math.

About Me

I'm a deep thinker, a fast talker, and insanely creative at times. I'm a programmer(mostly python), a published writer, and sometimes an amateur graphic artist. I'm liberal, Buddhist, an Open Source fan(without being a nut about it), and very interested in AI(especially NLP). I'm a huge fan of SETI.  I'm generally a nice guy to hang around with.

As to hobbies: I don't watch much TV anymore (no time for mindless, non-interactive entertainment, though I make some exceptions, like Doctor Who), and I rarely go to movies (for pretty much the same reason the added reason of ridiculous costs). I like photography, museums, amusement parks, art galleries, book stores, bargain hunting, listening to music, and I'm open to new ideas.

I love (and live) to read. I'm fond of literary fiction, and especially postmodern literary fiction. If you read Harper's or The New Yorker, we'll probably get along. If you read Rain Taxi and the Quarterly Conversation, we'll definitely get along. I like walking, but given my recent surgery, hiking is a little out of the question.

My Heroes include Joseph Campbell, Will Wright, Sid Meiers, and Guido Von Rossum. My favorite authors are Mark Z. Danielewski and William Faulkner. I'm also fond of Jennifer Egan, Jonathan Lethem, Tim Powers, China Mieville, Hemingway, Steinbeck, Philip K. Dick, Jonathan Franzen, David Foster Wallace, and I really love Ezra Pound and T.S. Eliot. My favorite book is "As I Lay Dying" by Faulkner.

I'm a huge fan of SETI.

My Circles

Friends, Family, Acquaintances, Following (generally that's where I put famous people who aren't going to follow me back, lol), Gay Bears, Gay (yes, 2 different circles), Literary, Techie, Geek (Geeks like Tech, Techies *know* tech), Photography, anti-genre, and Interesting People (for people I want to follow but who don't fit in other categories).

Just a heads up:  I won't follow you if:

(None of the following applies if I already know you)

If you follow me and you're following thousands of people: I'm not following you back. There can be no conversations at those levels, as I have discovered on Twitter. Also, if you're a marketer, an SEO specialist, a "Social Media Guru" (or Ninja, or whatever), or your job includes the title "Evangelist", I'm not only going to not circle you: I'm going to block you.
