Behind the Golden Curtain - http://goo.gl/HVMSey

When I got the spot where I shot this below Vernal Falls, I was a little beat from the hike and declared this as my new happy place. We spent about an hour here just shooting and relaxing, but even with a steady flow of hikers on the trail nearby, it's one of the most serene places I've ever visited. Royal's Golden Arches - http://goo.gl/xEk86R

I loved seeing and shooting all of the famous landmarks of Yosemite Valley, but I hoped to capture something uniquely different about it. I created a series called Yosemite Yellow shot in infrared and already posted one image that included Half Dome (I Stand Alone), but this is a overview of the valley floor from Glacier Point. You can see the rest of the series as it grows here: http://goo.gl/ok0sBx

In Your Face - http://goo.gl/wHuD93

I'd mentioned before about how much the view at Glacier Point blew me away, but I literally exclaimed,"Holy Shit!" as I walked up to the guard rail at the overlook. For all of the driving that you do to seemingly get away from the valley, you're about as right on top of it as you can be and the view is straight down.

Feeling Your Warmth - http://goo.gl/WMqa6X

If you want to shoot the sunset from Stoneman Bridge, make sure you get there early! There were a lot of other folks that gathered here for the exact same reason.

Since I was shooting with my IR body, I had wondered how the shadowed foreground would come out. It seems that there was enough reflected IR to show detail, but not enough to give it the false color, and it almost looks like a visible light image.

Just a Light Mist - http://goo.gl/Omf7aX

The hike was listed as only like a mile, but no one ever mentioned that the first 3/4 mile had a 500+ foot vertical gain. This is the hike where I took too much gear, but it's hard to make the choice to leave behing the color, IR or medium format cameras. I WANT IT ALL! hahaha

Chrome Dome - http://goo.gl/Typ2mi

Not sure why, but I've been amazed by Half Dome since I was a kid seeing pictures of Yosemite. Looking at the images I shot this trip, I definitely captured it more than anything else in the park, but I've been restraining myself from filling your streams with nothing but Half Dome shots. Today I just couldn't resist. See the rest of the Yosemite Yellow series: http://goo.gl/ok0sBx

Bright sun and middle of the day? Time for IR. I really need to get here during a better time of the day and with some weather! This is the third in the Yosemite Yellow series. See them all here: http://goo.gl/ok0sBx

Washburn Point was the first place that we stopped that gave me a look over Yosemite Valley and it totally blew my mind. And while it was amazing, I still wasn't prepared for the next views at Glacier Point. More to come....

In a Hayfield Up Near Buxton - http://goo.gl/zR8EUW

You can find so much more than just vineyards in Sonoma, and on one of the first days shooting with my new (to me) Hasselblad I stumbled upon this rock wall in a field just feet from grazing cows and chickens. I quickly found that composing a shot with the Hassy was much more different than shooting with my DSLR - everything through the waist level viewfinder was backwards!

I Stand Alone - http://goo.gl/6BvoPu

It really goes without saying - Yosemite Valley is awe inspiring. I've been fortunate to visit some amazing places, but the magnitude of this natural wonder blew me away. So much so that I couldn't resist bringing everything that I had: color digital, infrared digital, and medium format film. It didn't make for the a light pack and the hike to Vernal Falls was brutal because of it.

+Liz C Oh, this was the easy drive up and park place to take pics. I'll be posting pics from Vernal Falls later where I had to hike in. You can see the stats from the hike here:
