Here's where you'll find the badge canvas graphic organizer. Scroll to the middle of the page to find the download. (These organizers are important for the learning module on this page.

What idea presented in this video is something you’re familiar with?
The idea of learning happening 24-7 online independently and with little adult interaction or direction.

What idea is new to you?
The idea of badging is a relatively new idea to me.  I definitely see a connection between endorsements on Linkedin and badges, I am not sure I see what the difference is.

What ideas do you believe? Which do you doubt? Why?
I believe that students should be given the opportunity to choose pathways that they would like to pursue and that they can benefit from peer review and badging.
I believe that badging for adults would support people in continuing education and giving credit for skills and knowledge that was not obtained from a higher ed institution.  This informal accounts for the mass majority of what most adults have acquired.

I don’t really doubt anything that they discussed in these videos.

Here's a useful tool for creating the images for your badge system. I like it because you can create badges from scratch or import your own images or graphics, like a school logo... or a picture of your dog.

Here's a video of uni practice from last year. Last night Hailey insisted it was time to let go of my finger and ride across the basement. Since her determined declaration that it was time, she's made several trips across the basement, the kitchen, and the living room, a number of which have required 6 or 7 pedal strokes at a time without help. I've promised to take her back to the tennis courts this weekend so she can take advantage of the smooth surface and the wide open spaces between the baselines.

I'm pretty sure you put this in an open spokes video last year. Nice!

Learning about literacies, old and new
Introduction
I am the instructional coordinator for educational technology in Aurora Public Schools. In my time as a middle school literacy teacher, I taught in a demonstration classroom, where teachers could come to observe my workshop and give me feedback on small group differentiation strategies, classroom management techniques, and the sometimes effective and usually experimental use of 1-to-1 netbooks in a digital literacy workshop. As a teacher-consultant with the Denver Writing Project, I have had the pleasure to lead professional development writing workshops for all levels, from kindergarten teachers to post-secondary teachers. I love my work because I'm always learning, especially when I'm focused on the evolution of digital texts and tools. I'm passionate about supporting teachers through instructional coaching and learning alongside the coaches with whom I'm privileged to work. I'm also a husband and father. I'm always learning there, too. My most recent adventure in education is co-facilitating the National Writing Project's #clmooc.
