Hard to believe my baby girl would have been 14 today. As every year goes by, it becomes harder to imagine the young woman she would have grown up to be. With every year, we add to the list of things she would have, or could have, done. I will always be grateful for the far too short time we had with her, and will always cherish the laughs, smiles, the "I love you"'s, and the many lessons she taught us. Miss you Em, and will forever love you. 💗

What a beautiful picture! She looks darling.
A friend's once told me; only the best parents are good enough to fulfill parenting in less then 20 years...
Reading your stories and getting to know what a wonderful friend you are makes me believe this could be true...

4 years ago today... Peyton wasn't going to sign autographs because he was there for the hospital (accepting a check from Dunkin Donuts for the children's hospital) and didn't want to distract from that. Emily wanted an autograph however, so I told her to just roll up and ask. (who could say no to that face?) While Peyton was talking to the Mayor, she rolls in between them and asks for one. Needless to say, he signed her hat, football, her and her brothers shirts as well as stuff for all the kids there. :)

Emily's name on a Childhood Cancer Awareness shirt.  There are names on the front and back.. and on an additional two shirts since they couldn't fit them all on one.

Hug your children... and never take anything for granted.

Very proud of +Lori Hatfield Del Vecchio today! She's in Washington DC, speaking to members of Congress about childhood cancer funding. Our children deserve more than just 3.7% of cancer research funds. Just because they can't vote or make political donations, doesn't mean they should be ignored.

Was always my favorite quote - "Children with cancer are like candles in the wind who accept the possibility that they are in danger of being extinguished by a gust of wind from nowhere and yet, as they flicker and dance to remain alive, their brilliance challenges the darkness and dazzles those of us who watch their light"

Seriously?? So a kid who lies to police, takes apart a clock to look like a bomb, sets up school officials, and has a father who is an Islamic agitator, gets an invite to the Whitehouse. Kids who are asking for funding to save their lives and others... They get thrown out of a park nearby.
Secret Service, citing security concerns, blocked off Lafayette Park, disrupting CureFest candle vigil.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month. 46 children are diagnosed with cancer every day in the US... 7 per day will die (close to 275 per day worldwide). Don't believe the media or government when they say it's "rare". Imagine a news report stating that 50 children a week in the US were being murdered.. Well they are.. By cancer.

Hug your children... Tell them you love them... Enjoy the moments you have, for their life, and yours, can change in the blink of an eye.

Miss you Em. 💗

Next week, +Lori Hatfield Del Vecchio  will be going to Washington D.C. prior to her shave, in order to speak with members of Congress about the lack of funding for childhood cancer research. Once again, we don't want any parents or siblings to go through what we had to, and we especially don't want any other children having to endure what Emily dealt with.

I ask not only that you help by donating if you can, but please pass along her link by sharing it and encouraging others to do so as well. Thank you for all your support and thank you for helping to eliminate the evils of cancer from our children.
This St. Baldrick’s participant is shaving their head to raise money for childhood cancer research and stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer! Make a donation to support their fundraising efforts.

Story
Introduction
IT Development manager for a health and life insurance company.  (I know, don't hate me, it pays the bills)

Have 3 of the most amazing children... yes, even more amazing then yours.

Am now an expert on Osteosarcoma in children, chemo, and a very long list of drugs that I never want to hear about again in my lifetime.   This evil disease we call cancer has unfortunately taken my baby girl away from me at the much too young age of 10.  It's impossible to describe the pain and loss or the emptiness that you feel.  Miss you Em. <3
