- Yes, from a certain perspective I think it's a culture deluded to willingly sacrifice the pursuit of biologically and psychologically fulfilling things in exchange for the false notion that certain material things are markers of social status and should be pursued at all costs, including a willingness to behave in parasitic and predatory ways toward one another. In addition we have a media that needs to feed on attention so it catastrophizes things in addition to accenting the bleeding worst of humanity. These imbalances craft distortion of what actually satisfies in the culture and seems to me to be some of the primary ingredients in the recipe for elevated stress levels in the U.S. I could be missing things.23w
