Winter is rapidly ending here in western Washington. Spring flowers are already blooming in my yard. But it isn’t quite over yet. Here’s a few shots from a snowshoeing outing I made earlier this month in Mount Rainier National Park.

My recent trip to Europe confirmed something I already knew, travel photographers need to embrace high ISOs. Sure I took my tripod along on the trip, and I used it frequently. But mostly when outside buildings. Most museums and other indoor attractions…

If you are like me, it is often difficult to do serious photography when traveling with your family. I wish I had a simple method to address this problem, but I don’t. If you do, please let me know! Or perhaps you don’t think this is a problem. If that is…

Introduction
I an a freelance photographer based in Tacoma, Washington. I discovered my passion for photography at an early age in the beautiful landscapes of the Pacific Northwest region of the United States, where I was born and raised. My  photographic skills are largely self taught; my formal education is in geology. Though my portfolio contains images from around the world, I hold a special love for the American southwest; naming my company, Seldom Seen Photography, after a fictional character from southern Utah. My photography has won both local and international awards, and has been published by National Geographic, Northwest Travel Magazine, EOS Magazine, and Washington State Tourism, among others. I have also written several travel photography articles and teach photography in the classroom as well as to individuals. You can contact me through this profile, or by visiting my website.
