One more from SciFri. I like how this author flips the traditional narrative of a Wild West Internet that parents must surveil constantly to a place where children are desperately trying to carve out a place for themselves free of that surveillance.
In It’s Complicated, Internet scholar danah boyd debunks myths about teens’ online lives.

I love this Ban Bossy campaign! The concept is long overdue. It's time for us to embrace and encourage women and girls who want to take the lead.

I'm intrigued but hesitant about this doc. One the one hand, it sounds like an interesting experiment. On the other hand, I don't want them to ruin the magic of Vermeer. Darn you, Penn!

Perfectly stated. "His blue gym shoes match his baseball cap, worn backwards in a sartorial choice that seems inspired by market research conducted no later than 1997."

Imagine reaching out and touching someone from across the globe. This technology looks amazing. I particularly like that we are seeing an early version and not a polished, final product. It gives you a feel (pun intended) for how these technologies evolve.

When you hear something like the song at the start of this podcast, it's disturbing. When you think about the fact that people had to sit around, brainstorming, and writing the song, it becomes horrifying.

I find this more disturbing than all of the allegations of NSA snooping combined. Her father aptly states, "All she is is a host for a fetus."

Once you are brain dead, you are dead. Forcing her body to be kept alive to keep (at the time) a 14-week old fetus alive is one of the most invasive things I can imagine the government doing. It is one of the many reasons that I do not believe states should be given as much power as some wish them to have. This is more power than any governmental institution should have.

There weren't too many movies that #Netflix  dumped for 2014 that I'll miss, but I am very excited about some things in the newly added crop.

I haven't seen Mommie Dearest in so long. Now the question is, do I watch it soon or wait for my mother to visit so we can revel in the camp together? I may have to wait.

My job is fantastic. I have a friend that loves to go on house tours to see what other people have done with their homes. My job is like that but with people's thoughts, aspirations, companies, stories, and more. People come to me knowing what they want to say but not sure how to get everything they want onto the page. From the research, to the exposure, to the many challenges, everything about freelance writing and editing is compelling to me. If you need help getting your thoughts down on paper (or screen), send me a message.
