Kepler does it again! This week, +NASA's Kepler Mission
has added another 715 planets to the CONFIRMED exoplanet count, not candidates (there's a difference).
Also, an important theory about the nature of dark energy died this week. Researchers using the Large Underground Xenon (LUX) dark matter detector has announced that the lack of any WIMPs in their observations last October is confirmed. This effectively kills the most widely accepted theory about what dark matter may be made of.
Finally, a stream of stars around the dwarf galaxy Andromeda II shows an important component of galaxy formation - dwarf mergers - in action.
