My good friend +Trey Ratcliff on one of his many epic adventures...I actually have a few friends stationed and working here and there on Antarctica. One of these friends working and living in Antarctica shared a few tales with me of old stations and bases there during a visit stateside...one old station (whose name I'd have to sift thru to recover) was left behind almost completely in tact...(think Twilight Zone where you know the people just left, pots on the stove, books laying open...). My scientist friend was one of the last people to visit the old station which I've forgotten the name of (and not the one pictured below) before they buried it due to instability if I recall. Anyway, tons of history down there. I almost took a job in Antarctica with the NOAA Corps a couple of years ago. Opted not to in the end. Another tale to be regaled...another time. I believe that a great deal more of our history than we often care to realize is buried deep beneath the continents, beneath the oceans...we are only able to guess at what the real story is...discovering these secrets someday will, no doubt, significantly alter our concepts of how things came to be as we now see it. What do you think G+?

Scott's Discovery Hut, Antarctica, 1901

Since G+ is the only place I can upload the full-rez version, I wanted to put it here! What an incredible place. This was recently opened again after many years of being closed off, so I feel lucky to be able to explore it.  There are many amazing and sad stories around this hut... I got many photos, and will tell them all. If you just can't wait, here is the wikipedia entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discovery_Hut

Hi! I would like Trey's drone and this is what I want to do with it...First, I'd love to find some cheeky little aviator outfit (loved yours btw) and rock it like you two did flying the DJI Inspire on your YouTube video!  Then, I'd take it out and go to all the unreachable epic places I haven't been able to get to here in the Colorado Rockies!  Next, I would proceed (with an equally saucy and sultry outfit tbd budget allowing) to Machu Picchu and tool around there exploring and picking up other cool and awesome photo friends and take even awesomer photos all over the world...to photograph those unreachable places beyond the edge of the cliff everywhere!  Then, I would want to modify the copter for underwater photography so we could explore the depths of the ocean as a scuba diver would, snapping pics all along the way! That will SERIOUSLY rock! I warn you I might break it, but oh will it be AMAZING while it's still going! Whooo hoooo! :)

This little gif is great! Apparently, it is causing a stir of it's own when shared with the nature community. Guess they don't see the connection. I do...how about you? Edgar Allen Poe would be proud of this maelstrom!

Neuschwanstein in the Bavarian Alps (stitched panorama)

I’ve wanted to visit this place for while now. I was pretty excited with the weather forecast; it was supposed to snow for 3 days and on the fourth day it was supposed to be sunny. So I though, perfect! I flew into Frankfurt from Qatar, and drove to Hohenschwangau (the village near the castle) where I stayed for a few days. The place is beautiful, but at this time of the year the trees aren’t looking that great so the place it’s really not at its best, unless you get a lot of snow. Things weren’t looking so good, the weather forecast didn’t come through when it was supposed to, but I was determined to stay there and wait for the right conditions. On day 6 I decided I wasn’t going to stay more than 7 days, but the snow finally came. It snowed heavy all night, but the sky looked horrible early in the morning, except for about 10-20min when the sun almost came out and I was able to take my shots.
