Do for the life you want.
What makes me, me? It’s a question that runs through my mind more often than I care to admit. Who am I? Why am I here? You know, just some light thinking – nothing too heavy. Whenever I head down this...

This is beyond beautiful. And it makes me wonder that much more why anyone is listening to Iggy Azaela. Some people just have real talent. And when you pair talent with talent, well, this is what happens.

Ha ha ha. Not sure I'd put Lana in the same category as Sia, but to each her own!  I just can't get with Iggy and her fabricated thug accent.

"The best leaders, it seems, are good at motivating people with things like encouragement, praise and rewards—thereby creating a strong emotional bond and sense of purpose among employees." Funny it should take studies to figure this stuff out... At least there is "proof" for those who need it now.
New research shows that the best business minds make decisions very differently than we thought.

"Resourceful people dare to make bold moves, and they know that even if the road doesn't take you exactly where you plan, it can often lead to other great places."
It's nice to be told that you're smart, creative or driven. But if you really want to offer the ultimate compliment to an entrepreneur, the word you're looking for is, resourceful.

We talk a lot about community, but we rarely discuss the role community plays in the greater organization. What role does community play in your company? Are you a community centric company? How do you support the rest of your company? How do they support you?

Join us for this week's #CMGRHangout panel on Friday, May 23rd at 2pm EST to discuss the role of community in an organization!

+Jonathan Brewer and +Sarah Mordis will be hosting the Hangout with +Dom Garrett, +Sunny Hernandez and +Jelena Woehr as panelists. +Carrie Keenan will be moderating the Twitter chat using #CMGRHangout .

If you would like to be on panel, we DO still have room. Please let us know asap.

Discussion Questions

1. How can an online community benefit an organization?
2. Where does your community extend within your organization?
3. Which departments within your organization use social media to accomplish their goals?
4. How can you give your community an inside look at the organization?
5. What are some challenges of an active, involved community?
6. Should the online community be the driving force behind an organization's direction?

RSVP & Watch the Hangout

RSVP here to let us know you’re going to watch. This will add the event to your calendar and remind you to attend! If you want to be on air, please let us know in advance by commenting here.

Let’s discuss ways you can attend:

Watch: You do NOT need to join the hangout. Just stay on the Google+ Event and you’ll see the video on YouTube. (Don’t worry, it will be there and start playing as soon as the broadcast begins.)

Talk and Be Seen: If you decide you want to talk, not just watch, click to join the hangout when we post the link here or when you see the notification. (We will only invite a few people for this event, so let us know why you would like to attend.) Do NOT click the link to join the hangout if you are just here to watch.

Chat: You can watch here and/or follow the conversation on Twitter using #cmgrhangout .

Any questions? Just let us know in advance. Please don’t wait until 2pm EST to ask questions.

If you join us on the hangout, a wired internet connection is preferred and if you have a headset with mic or earbuds, that works best for the audio. You will also need a working webcam.
This Hangout On Air is hosted by My Community Manager. The live video broadcast will begin soon.

"In the new economy, as in the old one, it turns out that organization building is not a secondary diversion from the “real” work of launching a high-tech start-up…it might well prove to be the main event."

"Copious amounts of prose has been devoted to...making work more fun, funky, and even meaningful – but companies still fail. The exemplary companies we studied have figured out how to establish emotional connections with their staff." #HR   #EX   #employeeexperience

""Likability isn't something you are born with, like charisma. It's something you can learn.." #coaching   #connection
As social networks and videoconferencing grow, the ability to come across as likable is shaping how people are sized up and treated by bosses and co-workers

This candidate experience stuff isn’t as monumental as it sounds or as some would like you to think it is. When it comes down to it, when you take it bird by bird, it’s totally doable.
This candidate experience stuff isn’t as monumental as it sounds or as some would like you to think it is. When it comes down to it, when you take it bird by bird, it’s really not all that hard. Here’s a short list to get you started.

Dare I call this place The Pride of San Francisco? I might. Listen, any venue where your bouncers and bar backers aren't total jerks gets an A+ in my book. Add to the fact that that atmosphere at Bottom of the Hill is utter perfection, their food is kind awesome, parking is not a problem, and they've been known to release a handful of tickets on the night of a sold out show (shhhh!), and well, need we say more? This is hands down my favorite venue not just in San Francisco, but ever.

I have to stop myself from spending massive amounts of money here. On my first visit, I bought a ton of stuff, left and then some stuff caught my eye in the window as I was leaving and I went back in a bought a bunch more! If you love handmade and homemade, this is heaven! Everything from comic books and buttons to jewelry and clothing. Need a one-of-a-kind gift? This is your ace in the hole. Go and thank me later.

I like bookstores, but Dog Eared is love. Great inventory, great vibe. I always leave with something I didn't go in with the intent to buy and that is the best. And I can never pry my three year old away from the kids corner. And the staff is lovely to both me AND her which any parent knows goes a really long way.

Is there anything better than grilled cheese? I will tell you what is better -- a mac n cheese grilled cheese! You'll find this on special at The Melt so I recommend becoming a regular there so you don't miss it when it's on special. The entire menu is great though and I go every Wednesday (almost). The staff is sweet. The know me by face. Hi, my name is Jocelyn and I'm addicted to The Melt!!

I could walk they aisles and daydream the day away in this place. Or, cozy up in one of their vintage armchairs and read a book. You know, if they’d let me. One day I’ll take home one of their lovely, eclectic pieces. This store teems with dreams.
