Immersed body in performance. I'm making great experiences, during my long-term research in the last months, exploring multiple sensors and sensorial interfaces on stage. Research by Joao Martinho Moura, supervised by Paulo Ferreira-Lopes and Né Barros.

I am truly honored to present my latest work, an audiovisual show celebrating the 103rd Anniversary of Theatro Circo, in Braga, Portugal. I have had several opportunities to present my artistic works at Theatro Circo, but this time it will be very special, once the show will take place on the exterior façade of the magnificent centenary building.
Artwork description:
Videomapping show on the facade of Theatro Circo, by media artist Joao Martinho Moura and Antonio Rafael. A commemorative moment of color, shapes, music, and movement, inspired by the aesthetics and history of the centenary building, that explores its details and nooks, on a journey through the Media Arts.

Saturday, 21 April 2018, 23:50h.

I'm collaborating with choreographer Né Barros in the performance CO:LATERAL.
The artwork is a result of my long time collaboration with Balleteatro, and my research in performance and virtual reality, conducted at Escola das Artes Católica Porto, under the supervision of Paulo Ferreira-Lopes and Né Barros. In this performance, the body is projected and extended itself in a relationship of intimacy with interactive virtual reality. CO:LATERAL will be presented next Saturday at Teatro Virgínia, in Torres Novas, at 21:30h.

CO:LATERAL
Dance and Media Art
Né Barros and João Martinho Moura
with Sónia Cunha
Coliseu do Porto - Sala bebé - 15 Dec, 15h and 16:30h
The body is projected and extended itself in a relationship of intimacy with interactive virtual reality. The performative discourse resulting from this connection calls for an extraordinary and poetic moment made of space and body, made of a mixture of realities, made up of double figures and images.

During the months of August and September of 2017, I was in artistic residence at the INL - International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory, located in Braga, Portugal. The purpose of this artistic residence was to demonstrate, through an art form, the research and development that is conducted at the Department of Micro and Nanofabrication.
The invitation was made by INL’s direction to artists from the city of Braga. I collaborated with the choreographer Cristina Mendanha and the musicians Antonio Rafael and Miguel Pedro Antunes Guimaraes.
My role in this process was related to media art creation. I began with a series of observations on the SEM equipment (Scanning Electron Microscope), inside the clean room facilities at INL. I then developed a custom software to create abstract visuals through a creative code process, using advanced computer vision techniques, optical flow, and depth information extraction, resulting in a series of imaginary nano inspired visuals, which were integrated with the choreography and music of the performance. Many thanks to INL’s team of exceptional scientists and researchers, and a special mention to Joao Gaspar
