This is one of my favorite vegetable side dishes to make in the spring, when the abundance of leeks come in! #kitchenconvo #sponsored
Potatoes get all the fame and glory when it comes to gratins, but I think leeks are the ultimate star ingredient for this classic dish. Leek_Gratin_Recipe_fifteenspatulas_hero3. Now that it's spring and leeks are coming into season, I want to share this side dish recipe with you.

The leeks at the grocery store are so big, fresh, and beautiful! Turn them into this leek gratin as a great spring vegetable side dish for dinner.

Showing you that recipes from scratch aren't so intimidating after all!
Introduction

When I was six years old, my mother found me in the garage with ice cream dripping from my fingers...with pieces of waffle cone in my hair, and a helmet strapped to my head.

I was supposed to be on my bike riding to the park for a soccer game, but I had discovered a new flavor of Haagen-Dazs in the garage freezer.

Clearly, eating ice cream with my fingers was far more interesting than soccer.

In other words, my interest obsession with food started at a very young age.

While other kids spent their afternoons watching Hey Arnold or Lizzie Maguire, I watched Food Network and read cookbooks that taught me about the chemistry of cooking.

I began cooking all my meals from scratch in college after suffering from severe acid reflux from the overprocessed cafeteria food. Upon graduating with a BA in Economics, I decided to forgo the finance industry and instead create FifteenSpatulas.com, a recipe and cooking website with a mission of showing people that cooking from scratch isn't as intimidating as one might think, with step-by-step photos and explanations of the how's and why's of cooking.

I absolutely LOVE the Fred Astaire dance studio in Mystic. I was looking for something fun to do as a hobby and now I'm hooked on ballroom dancing! This dance studio is different from other studios I've been to, because their teaching method really focuses on personalization and technique. The teachers (Vadim, Caleb, Rusina, and Martin) are world class dancers and fantastic instructors, and everyone here is really nice. It has become my happy place, and there's definitely a sense of community too. I highly recommend this studio!
