On a slow summer Sunday evening, I enjoyed a quiet dinner at what I imagine is a lively pub at other times. Parmesan Crusted Walleye was on the specials menu and being in from out of state, I took this as an opportunity to enjoy a Minnesota favorite. This turned out to be a very good idea. It was excellent, both in flavor and presentation. Honestly, I wasn't expecting something presented so artfully. The indoor space is spacious with what I would describe as an opulent 1920's theme. There are also outdoor tables. I recommend the food.

This regional mall has Nordstrom's, Macy's, Sears and an impressive compliment of specialty stores. It was updated recently with outdoor seating. Very nice atmosphere and crowded. Nice food court built overlooking an indoor ice rink. For the toddler set, there is a sweet playground between Macy's, Stride Rite and a baby- friendly restroom. It's currently undergoing a massive expansion (2016) making parking more of a challenge.

This lovely park sits high on a hill so there is usually a nice breeze even on hot days. They have two large play areas. One, with swings nearby, for younger children and another with larger equipment for older children. There's a thick, soft layer of sand all around the play structure areas, providing soft landings as well as making a giant sandbox. There are several covered picnic areas as well as open grassy areas for play. They also have a large running track around a large grassy area. Everything is connected by smooth sidewalks which make a good surface for practicing bicycle riding or scooting along on scooters. Lots of fun here!

The VG in the name of this bakery stands for "Very Good" and it certainly lives up to that description. On weekend mornings, there will be a line out the door as visitors and locals alike line up for their favorite donuts and pastries. For my family that is chocolate-covered old fashioned donut, buttermilk old fashioned donut. blueberry buttermilk bar, bear claw and cinnamon danish. You need to arrive fairly early to be sure they don't run out of your favorites. But if you're not an early riser, fear not, they bake again around 4:00 in the afternoon. Did I mention birthday cakes? The best! You need to order your custom cakes a couple days ahead. They also do beautiful wedding cakes and I hear some local brides and grooms treat their guests to decadent VG donut buffets.

This is a very nice Costco. All the staff are friendly and helpful. When it's busy, the parking lot can get crowded, but we've always found the customers to be courteous and relaxed. The gas station is easy to find, right in the parking lot. It's very close to the I-5, so if you're a Costco member and on the I-5 needing gas, it's almost as "easy-on-easy-off" as the gas stations at the I-5 ramps.

I've been having my nails done here for over 8 years and won't trust anyone else. The salon maintains the highest standards in every way.

We have been to Argyle's for lunch several times and always enjoy the ambience and service, dining on the terrace overlooking the golf course and Batiquitos Lagoon. In the day, I'd describe the menu and flavor as classic golf club dining. In the evening, they bill the restaurant as an upscale steakhouse. We recently decided to treat out-of-town guests who were celebrating a milestone to dinner, expecting a steakhouse experience in line with traditional upscale steakhouses. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. The service across the board was slow and aloof. We waited far too long to get menus, then to have our order taken. Our server provided "advice" on how to order as if this was our first time at a full-service restaurant. Everything, including the shared vegetables, is served on the cast iron skillet in which it is cooked. They put these skillets on little wooden trivets, making things impossible to pass, so we were sliding things across the table and trying not to get our elbows in our meals. You can't serve each other because everyone's "plate" is also a cast iron skillet. When we made the reservation, we were asked if we were celebrating a special occasion. We were and told them, but nothing was done to acknowledge it.
