Integrating Today I went alone to buy Sukuma-wiki and Spinach at Old Market (Old Town) in Malindi. My worry was that they would try to over-charge me because of being a mzungu=white but there was no problem at the lady where we normally buy. She even offered me a stool in the shadow while I was waiting for the vegetables to be cut (see my photo one day ago more down). Afterwards I was said goodbye with a lot of smiles which encouraged me to stop at the Kaka - shop (half-cakes) , after getting the price I bought 10 of them and after being praised by the owner for my efforts in speaking kiswaheli made my way home..
Un altre sorpresa als jardins dels apartaments Blue Marlin de Malindi: un Eriçó Africà ben a prop de la recepció i a plena llum del dia, semblava ferit a prop de l'orella. Another surprise at the gardens of Blue Marlin apartments: an African Hedgehog very near to the reception and in bright daylight, it seemed to have a wound near the ear.
At the Old Market in Malindi town, there are some women who shred the "Sukuma-wiki" and Spinach perfectly fine by just using a very sharp knife. Later on they sell those vegetables packed in little bags at a price of ksh 10, (aprox. 0,1 euro).
