Search vs Social stats - Loving this +Jon Law +Alex Snell +Alex Brown

Shareaholic: Social referral traffic beats search traffic - again

+BuzzFeed has published an interesting new insights site How Technology Is Changing Media where it uncovered its best sources of traffic, among other things.

http://insights.buzzfeed.com/industry-trends-2014/

At the very top, they refer to Shareaholic stats showing that social is now the #1 source of referral traffic to content on the web.

+Martin Beck dug deeper into this in his post at +Marketing Land asking +Shareaholic to share more details.

Shareaholic confirmed that the social has pulled ahead in a see-saw battle.

Social passed search for the first time in June, 30.93% to 29.40%.

Search jumped back into the lead in July and August, before a social rebound in September (29.35% to 29.14%).

Yes, the numbers are close, but it does look like social is gaining more momentum.

“The figures simply reveal that social drives a larger relative percentage of visits to sites across the web. In some ways, I’m certain social has stolen both ‘share of traffic’ and raw visits from search." Shareaholic's +Danny Wong wrote in an email to Marketing Land.

Due to spammer escalation, MapMaker temporarily suspends edits from Tuesday 12th May
https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!category-topic/map-maker/news-and-announcements/crFEbGXJ-HI
As some of you know already, we have been experiencing escalated attacks to spam Google Maps over the past few months. The most recent incident was particularly troubling and unfortunate - a strong user in our community chose to go and create a large scale prank on the Map.

Hi Guys
Hope someone can point me in the right direction with this problem.
I passed my Google Certification exams last week and was made a Google Partner - Hurrah!

This was great until I realised that the Google Partner directory was showing my address wrongly.  It is 1729A London Road, Leigh on Sea, Essex SS9 2SW.  But every time I input that, it keeps automatically changing to 1727-1729 London Road which is actually another agency!

Google Partners tell me that this is what happens when they Google 1729A London Road and that I need to change the address in MapMaker.

However, if you Use MapMaker and search for Lollipop Local, the address comes up correctly but if you search for just 1729A London Road, it shows 1727-1729.

Should I add the address as a place in MapMaker?  Is that going to be a duplication if they can already pick it up through a search for Lollipop Local?

What is the best way forward to resolve poor Google's confusion?

Many thanks
Jo

Introduction

Local SEO Pro, Social Media Trainerr and Social Media Manager at Lollipop Local in Leigh-on-Sea, near Southend-on-Sea, Essex.

I love helping businesses to exploit all the opportunities offered by the internet - both locally and globally!  And I try to use words of one syllable so it's easy to understand.

A regular attendee of Women In Business Network lunches, I enjoy working with both genders to demystify Search Engine Optimisation and Social Media.  If you want your business to get found online, you need to have a basic knowledge of how both these tools work.

We understand that most business owners cannot spend all day away from the office on a training course.  Our courses are two hours max.  We chuck out the fluff and show you skills you can use to get results straightaway.

Recently my elderly father needed to have a lot of work done on his house. The clutter of 40 years needed to be packed into boxes so that the builders would not have to worry about dust or damage to his treasures. And the work needed to be done whilst Dad was on holiday a few weeks later. With very short notice, Craig was able to come round, price up the job and give us an appointment as close as possible to the date of his departure. Dad was a little nervous about having a stranger in the house, but the employee who was assigned to do the packing was extremely sensitive to Dad’s feelings and was very reassuring throughout the whole process. I highly recommend Move It Removals for the care they took with Dad, some excellent packing and stacking and a great price.

I attended Vicky's Business Accelerator Workshop last month and she has really made a change to the wording that I use in my marketing materials. She helped me to look at things from the customer point of view and to appeal to their pain point rather than just selling my services. Highly recommended for new or established business owners.

Lovely little hotel with parking. Just a short walk from Banbury cross and the town centre. Helpful staff, comfortable bed, pretty room. Plus fab english breakfast for me and also for my vegan. Although right on the Oxford rd, the double glazing is brilliant and we didnt hear the traffic at all. Good value

I lunch in the upstairs room at The Sand Bar every month with Women In Business Networking. We have a choice of 5 or 6 different dishes each time and Louise always goes out of her way to include something to accommodate my allergies. Many of the ladies have said that the Leigh event has the best food, thanks to our residence at the Sand Bar. Each plate is presented beautifully and returns to the kitchen pretty much licked clean. The set menu has also given many of us a chance to try varieties of seafood that we might not have selected otherwise. I have also run a couple of social media workshops here and the staff have been extremely helpful in getting my equipment set up. The accompanying coffee and home made biscuits are always very well received by my attendees. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a private room with lunch or refreshments.

I booked the Hollywood Makeover with a view to getting a new passport photo and also a professional photo for my business website. Mel applied my makeup and sorted out my hair before I went into the Studio with Paul to have my photos taken. He was extremely calm and helped me to relax. By the end, I was really starting to feel like a model. And the photos reflected that. I now have a passport photo that I am not afraid to show to people and an image for my website that I am confident will convert into phone calls when it is seen online. Thank you x
