Whirling Clouds
Caught in the middle of a typhoon in Shanghai, I sat for a while under cover, waiting for the rain to stop a little so I could take this shot. Then I saw a bar with a covered terrace. I decided to enjoy a beer until the rain finally stopped - a luxury you can enjoy when shooting cityscapes, as opposed to shooting landscapes, where there aren't too many bars around (Although, I did once hike through Patagonia with a bottle of red wine in my bag smile emoticon ).

When the rain did stop I ran out and captured these dramatic clouds racing through these huge buildings.

Feel free to visit my blog to see the original files and the workflow used for the image: http://www.throughstrangelenses.com/2015/09/03/shanghai-looking-up/

There are a lot of ways to maximise the vast amount of data our amazing RAW files contain. I created a tutorial showing one method of drawing out that important information, so that we can make the most of the RAW file, and also how to instantly digitally blend the images in Photoshop http://www.shutterevolve.com/quick-photoshop-secrets-8-how-to-digitally-blend-a-single-raw-file/
Article By Jimmy McIntyre A question I receive regularly is how can we digitally blend a single RAW file in Photoshop. For best results, we should always aim to work

I created a tutorial for creating a dreamy, Lord of the Rings style Orton Effect in Photoshop. The Orton Effect has become popular again in recent years, especially amongst landscape photographers, and it's a great tool to add to your post-processing arsenal http://www.shutterevolve.com/quick-photoshop-secrets-7-how-to-create-a-dreamy-orton-effect/
Article By Jimmy McIntyre In today's tutorial, we are going to look at how to easily make a dreamy, Orton effect in your images, which in recent years has become popular once again, especially

Fit For A Sheik - Meydan Royal Bridge, Dubai

A bridge for the royal family in Dubai. Imagine owning your own bridge!

For you digital blenders, I've created a new set of advanced luminosity masks capable of more accurate selections than classical luminosity masks. Feel free to read about them here, and see the before/after for this image: http://www.throughstrangelenses.com/2015/04/27/fit-for-a-sheik-meydan-bridge-dubai/

I'm perplexed by the light falling on the far right pillar. The angle it faces and the direction the light from the sun is travelling seem incongruent for its luminance. Fascinating!

An Old and Foggy French Train Station

An old photo taken in the ancient French town of Les Eyzies. This was a beautifully spooky night, when not a soul was about, apart from a cat who sat and watched me the whole time from the platform.

You can see how I blended these exposures, and how to shift the balance of light in your images for greater mood, in today's blog post (video included)

In The Clouds
A quick shot from last week's shoot on one of the Zenith Towers. The clouds were howling through these buildings at a tremendous speed, so it took a few attempts to capture them partially covering the building.
I've been upgrading some of my gear recently ahead of upcoming photography trips. If you're curious, you can see my new gear, the workflow explanation for this image, and a before/after comparison in today's blog post: http://www.throughstrangelenses.com/2015/08/03/in-the-clouds/

Reflections in Abu Dhabi
I was really looking forward to seeing these crisp reflections at the Sheik Zayed Grand Mosque. At the beginning of the evening it was fairly windy, so the reflections weren't clear. Just as we were heading out, we re-visited this spot and were delighted to get some shots in before the wind picked up again.

If you'd like to see the workflow used in this image, an interesting before/after, and the EXIF data, please see my blog: http://www.throughstrangelenses.com/2015/04/22/clear-mosque-reflections/
