This is interesting
It's inartfully put (140 characters is a bitch), but as a practical matter he's correct. Apple's patent application is for a method that allows them to make 18k gold that has, on a volume basis, less gold than regular 18k gold. How can this be? It's because Apple's gold is a metal matrix ...

It did well from what I can see. The side pole test is particularly impressive.

Sony's decision is a horrible precedent.
Hollywood stars say Sony's cancellation of The Interview, a comedy film about a plot to kill North Korea's leader, is a "victory" for hackers who threatened cinemas.

It's here—FreeNAS 9.3-RELEASE is now available!
Here's an early Christmas present for you all: FreeNAS 9.3! This FreeNAS update is a significant evolutionary step from previous FreeNAS releases, featuring a simplified and reorganized Web User Interface, support for Microsoft ODX and Windows 2012 clustering, better VMWare integration, ...

So, #self2015 is the 7th SELF. We clutched that thematic straw and ran with it. And boy it turned out GREAT.

Internet2 making +Daniel Walsh sad.
What is SELinux? Security Enhanced Linux (SELinux) is a technology that extends the basic access control mechanisms of the Unix model (file ownership, file access permission modes and a general exception for "root") with an additional layer of so-called mandatory access controls controlled by ...

Oh, FFS - it's not that hard to write an SELinux policy module.

And - if one absolutely must - only the domains for Apache and shibd could be set to permissive (with "semanage permissive") long enough to use audit2allow to help one debug the policy module.

Sounds like a fun project upon my arrival, +Jesse Bowling.

Interesting map overlay, esp. if you have been able to view the Top Gear Patagonia Special.

Interesting stuff. I will observe that growing up in a conservative, rural, North Carolina community that displays of wealth were frowned upon.

To ensure that astronomers work without interference, residents cannot use any product that transmits wireless signals within a ten-mile radius of the telescope. In other words: no microwave ovens, no cell phones, and no Wi-Fi.  "Just about anything that uses electricity co...
