I want to say something deep.
"Anything that can happen eventually will."
This is Murphy's Law, a physical principle derived from an old adage. The embittered Captain Edward Murphy popularized the adage in the Mid-20th Century, however, the concept has been around for ages. This is law because it is an observational truth; self evident.
"The closest things to any god(s) I believe in are Nature, Time, and Life proper - and THEY don't play favorites!"
This statement has no known origin, however, I commonly use it. I'm a spiritual agnostic, finding peace in all things that exist that are not disruptive to a natural and balanced system. If it is fate, then so shall it be. This isn't a quitter's mentality, so let me explain.
Sometimes acceptance is healthier for the mind and body than the stress of solving the problem. Simply put, not everything has or even requires an answer. Some things are simply not meant to be understood.
If an asteroid the size of Alaska came speeding toward Earth at 72,000 MPH tomorrow, there is literally nothing we could do to prevent the disaster. Life as we know it on the overwhelming majority, or the entirety, of the planet would be utterly destroyed. The impact of an object that large alone may have the same affect on the planet as a High Velocity .762 Rimmed AK-12 round would on the chest of an average sized man or woman. Death is certain.
The force would be tremendous; unfathomable even. How could we even calculate the damage of something like that? Even worse if said asteroid struck us head on as we made our journey around the sun at approximately 66,600 MPH. And the chain reaction! The negative feedback loops that would form from this one world breaking action! It would be hell on Earth!
That's what this attitude really is.
Tied to Murphy's Law it means that there will sometimes be impossible situations. They are eventualities. Our ideologies don't often match the gravity and reality of a great deal of situations we find ourselves in. No rate of exuding (or volume of) positive energy can fix or prevent every bad thing; not even close actually.
This is merely a popular superstition.
What the ideal really means is one's attitude can determine one's altitude. The way you deal with certain situations has an impact on your chances of overcoming them, provided a sentient being has any control over it in any degree. Maybe you can think more clearly that way. You're the sentient being in control. Maybe the creature staring you down will smell the changes in your body, rule you a non-threat and let you go. THAT is the sentient being in control. Maybe the sun has expanded into a red giant overnight. No sentient being is in control of that, and no amount of positivity will free you from what happens next.
So, how does this all fit together in regards to this "mind blowingly" deep statement I previously stated I want to make?
1. Time is nothing without Nature. Time itself exists as its very nature. It is as it does. Time and Nature must coexist.
2. Nature is the programmer of all things that exist. For Life to propagate, Nature must give instructions on how. Nature controls the evolution of all things, and even the forces' natures themselves.
3. Life is the immediate consequence of the existence of Time and Nature. Where they begin, so does Life. Instead of considering life purely organic, conceive of life as an energy. Energy carries data and, in high and dense enough concentrations, creates matter. Everything is energy and everything has energy, freely exchanging energy particles without ever running out. Energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed or transferred.
If Time is infinite progress, then Nature is limitless data and Life is bottomless energy. I consider these things to be the fundamental building blocks needed for a universe to be born. Not all life is or must be sentient. What makes that a necessity in the first place? Microbes have no central nervous system, yet they are undoubtedly alive. A host of more complex organisms have evolved from them as well.
Who made this rule? Why does it exist? It is clearly false. These are life forms that do not make decisions, presumably do not feel pain, and have no thoughts or emotions. Yet they exist almost as if in spite of that truth. How does one explain this? This is the beauty of Life, and the marvelous complexity of Nature, and masterful forward dance of Time.
If given enough time, anything that can happen eventually will. Life will always find a way, as Nature has programmed it so. Time gives it the opportunity. Organic life was an eventuality and we succeeded in coming to be. We have survived and will always find a way to survive in the years and generations to come. Though humanity may actually face its extinction one day, life in general will persevere.
There may actually never come a day when the universe is simply dead. Or, maybe there will. But finding out if it's actually POSSIBLE is a part of the adventure.
So many things we take for granted on a daily bases. We waste our time watching programming devoid of moral, societal, political, legal, and psychological value. We fill our days with meaningless gossip, unnecessary drama, violence, and thankless labor. We complain of the unfair treatment - the outright nepotism practiced by our employers - yet we do absolutely nothing worthwhile to actually stop and prevent it happening.
As a whole, we make lives meaningless. All of humanity is guilty. Even if you took no direct stance FOR this outcome, what stance did you take against it? How many bellies did you fill today? How many gallons of clean water did you send those without it? How many solar panels did you lay in your region? How many times did you vote for the BEST candidate as opposed to the most popular candidate? How many people in how many nations did you share news of injustice with? How many non-human animals did you find homes for? How many forests did you replant? How many poachers did you arrest? How many children did you adopt...or find homes for...? 😣
How many times were you the change you wanted to see in the world? How hard did you fight against this outcome? How often do you wish not live as livestock?
We gave this enough time to occur...and so it did. Somewhere along the line we stopped caring about the consequences, and the demagogues and the oppressors took over.
As far as my personal beliefs are concerned, this is what free will not properly exercised does. What omnipotent, omniscient, all-loving god would know of this outcome and still allow this to happen? And if it exists, why is it worthy of my worship? What am I actually thanking it for? Being alive? What value is that in a world this unfair? In a world this damaged? In a life filled with this much suffering? Why am I here...?
Ask yourself that.
When you're ready, let us gather and take control of our collective future. Make today the day we actually make the world demonstrably better. Let today be the day we become better as a whole. May we be the change we hope to see in the world today.#BeTheChange #Inspiration #Motivation #OurHumanity #Humanism
