Introduction
It's Jimmy.  I've got a lot of circles because people know me for different things.  You might think of me as a professional skier, computer hacker, board game enthusiast, or one of a number of other things.  Doesn't matter, if you know me, add me.

I have a large number of circles, but with the advent of Collections, I use those instead. Almost everything I post is to a collection; if you don't like posts like that, just unfollow that collection. Once in a blue moon I'll post something truly public, but that's rare. If I post something privately but not to a collection, it's probably been restricted to friends, family, or geographic area. The only non-public collection I have is my Politics Collection, which I curate membership of. While I enjoy a good political debate, I prefer to limit the debate to people who can do so rationally and calmly, and for professional reasons, I don't include coworkers.

Baltimoreans, let your freak flags fly. Turns out, the city might be the most eccentric in America — at least travel website Atlas Obscura thinks so.

Short interest in energy sector hits highest in more than a decade.

When oil prices rebound, I expect energy stocks to jump up. Avoid the companies at risk of going under, and the others can triple over the next few years. Those with high shorts will be the first to jump up... Unless they go under.

Full disclosure - I am long SWN and BP.

More on the EPA story.

The EPA is coming for your race car! The truth is far more complicated, but the messaging reveals as much about SEMA as it does about the proposed change.

Hmmm.  Just read the article at that link.  My thought is that just because the EPA claims that this effort does not actually target legitimate racers that doesn't mean it "doesn't affect legitimate racers"....and that is from a Non-Racer.

When the EPA representative states "It is still illegal to tamper with or defeat the emission control systems of motor vehicles. We are focused primarily on aftermarket manufacturers who sell devices that defeat emission control systems on vehicles used on public roads."  It looks to me that nothing changed.  The clean air act prohibited tampering with emissions systems before, and it remains illegal to tamper with them now.  Whether the vehicle is used ON or OFF public roads.

It seems to me that SEMA would have been more accurate if it had characterized the rule as a continuation of a policy that prohibited racers from modifying vehicles for use in non-public road domains.... requiring them to always be operated as if they were driving to Walmart when an exemption may have been called for......  Perhaps an exemption with PROFOUND consequences if one operated a modified vehicle on a public road.

What the article says is correct, but I don't think it makes clear how large the problem is of people buying aftermarket racing parts and installing them illegally on the cars they drive every day. Those are the people that are already breaking the law that the EPA wants to stop. But they'll go after the companies selling the equipment, not individual users.
Buried in a 629-page report, the EPA raises dander, but racers need not worry.

This seems similar to Seattle's effort to remove stop signs.

I approve.
A trial began in August 2014 to see if lines made drivers unnecessarily confident.

+Al Middleton I doubt it. If they do find that, then I'm sure the lines will come back.

When Seattle removed stop signs, the expectation was they would have more accidents at intersections. They found the reverse was true, and they have fewer. Signs and markings result in people following and trusting them -- presented with a lack of markings, people use their eyes and look for cars.

I'd suggest that with center line markings, people will drive in their lane, and not pay attention to oncoming traffic. If someone goes over the line, other cars are less likely to maneuver to avoid a collision. Without markings, people will watch oncoming cars more closely to ensure that they will not collide.

Large corrections are almost always overcorrections, and present excellent buying opportunities.
The U.S. stock market is more likely to be higher than lower in six months, writes Mark Hulbert.

Can't argue with any of the cast, but is six too many? Will awesome personalities like Sabine be reduced to Stig-like drivers who only come out to test vehicles?

We'll have to wait and see.
People of the world, may we present the brand new Top Gear TV team! We are very proud to announce that racing driver Sabine Schmitz, YouTube star Chris Harris, F1 pundit Eddie Jordan and motoring journalist Rory Reid will join Chris Evans, Matt LeBlanc and of course, The Stig, when the show returns in May.

My guess (perhaps my hope?) is that they aren't going to try for an identical dynamic, and the proof is the larger cast.

And don't get me wrong, I did enjoy watching May, but he's kind of a dick. I'm not at all interested in what he'll do without the BBC attempting to reign him in.

For real?
From Super Bowl 50 comes a strange postscript that could have become a major problem for the NFL. Via TheBigLead.com, the wife of the game’s replay assistant attended the game as a fan of the Broncos. Jimmy Oldham reportedly is a Denver-area resident. His wife donned a Broncos jersey for the game and posted a…

I was going off the article:
"A replay assistant’s potential impact on a given game is limited, especially where (as in this case) NFL V.P. of officiating Dean Blandino was in the booth."

But I don't really know know anything about it, I'm just being a smartass.
