Introduction
It's Jimmy.  I've got a lot of circles because people know me for different things.  You might think of me as a professional skier, computer hacker, board game enthusiast, or one of a number of other things.  Doesn't matter, if you know me, add me.

I have a large number of circles, but with the advent of Collections, I use those instead. Almost everything I post is to a collection; if you don't like posts like that, just unfollow that collection. Once in a blue moon I'll post something truly public, but that's rare. If I post something privately but not to a collection, it's probably been restricted to friends, family, or geographic area. The only non-public collection I have is my Politics Collection, which I curate membership of. While I enjoy a good political debate, I prefer to limit the debate to people who can do so rationally and calmly, and for professional reasons, I don't include coworkers.

I'm going to put this in my geeky collection, for lack of a better place to put it.
Swearing varies a lot from place to place, even within the same country, in the same language. But how do we know who swears what, where, in the big picture? We turn to data – damn big data. With g...

I bet there are a whole lot more "fuck"s than this shows... I certainly do not talk about needing a duck, trucking whores, and not giving a stuck nearly as often as my phone thinks.

An exceptionally interesting article. What's notable about this, much like Jef's recent article, is there is a factual answer. To use his logic, there is no opinion here; either you are wrong or right. But rather than make fun of those who are wrong, it's interesting to see how that wrongness affects their thoughts.

Some differences are amusing. However, as a man who was declared dead by a doctor when his heart stopped, it does bother me a little that about half of people believe having one's heart stop should be the definition of dead.

I dunno, heart to me is kind of like neural network summation of life experience, can form basis of rationed opinion.

Yeah, here they have a stock "both arrows go left" sign for these situations. Signage is one of the many driving things they do (much...) better over here. 😀

Huh?
A freak accident in a Tennessee liquor store parking lot created the bizarre vehicular mashup of a Camaro perched perfectly atop a Subaru wagon.

My son did upgrades to my car!

Unfortunately, none of us could remove the pin holding the shifter lever in place, so we only did two or the three upgrades we intended to do. But I'm still proud!

The funny thing is the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council has very pretentious guidelines for ensuring you don't act pretentious while eating hot dogs.

Including no ketchup if you're over eighteen.

Because eating hot dogs can't be pretentious.

Gentle writer:
Miss Manners appreciates your intrest in etiquette. Courtesy is so overlooked these days. But zealous appeal to avoid pretension often overlooks the point of manners in the first place: to make other people comfortable. Forbidding a favored condiment is, dare I say, rude.

One of every five cubesats launched between 2003 and 2014 is in violation of international guidelines calling for satellites to deorbit – by force of nature or their on-board systems – within 25 years of retirement, NASA sai
