Earlier today via a video reposted by QuimiQ on Reddit I found out not only of the existence of Project Soli (using miniature radar to detect hand gestures in order to control tech) but, also of the existence of a part of Google that I'd never heard of before called +Google ATAP (Google’s Advanced Technology and Projects group).

When I posted the video I found in Reddit in a post in g+ (https://plus.google.com/+JimWall/posts/FiZnKBFPFsp) +Adrian Chapmanlaw made me aware of the fact that some of the people from +Google ATAP had done a talk and demonstrations of what they have done in the approx a year that +Google ATAP has existed at this year's Google I/O last week and pointed me in the direction of the video below.

If what's shown in the video is what they managed to create and achieve in a year then the mind boggles at what they might create and achieve by next Google I/O if not in the next decade.

Blatter just announced he's resigning from FIFA.

extraordinary congress to be called as soon as possible to elect a replacement.

Due to amount of notice that has to be given for an election, the earliest date for someone to replace Blatter to be elected is likely to be December

+BBC Sport and several reporters tweeting that there's a surprise press conference by FIFA at 5pm BST. FIFA spokesman is refusing to even hint at what the press conference is about.

In an ideal world as someone whose not massively into football I'd like to hope it would be for Sepp Blatter to announce his resignation so, this whole FIFA farce can get properly dealt with but, I doubt it.

I could give it a go - I'll only be half as corrupt as the ones that have gone so a definite improvement!

Talking of gesture control see last post(https://plus.google.com/+JimWall/posts/FiZnKBFPFsp), it looks like the drummer in this video might have had some sort of gesture control going on back in 1984.

The actual explanation is provided by +Cowboy Matt  in the comments for the video:

"For those of you wondering why the drummer doesn't have drumsticks, Alan Jackson was told by the CMA producers that he needed to play along with a backing track for the drums. Mr. Jackson, being loyal to the genre and his fans, decided that his drummer shouldn't bring drumsticks onto stage, causing the producers to never mess around with his music again after audience saw that he had no drumsticks, and told the CMA producers."

Having grown up playing with LEGO as a kid my short explanation for people who ask me what Minecraft is, is that "It's the digital equivalent of Lego where you can build whatever you want."

Well, I might have to adjust that as +LEGO  have come up with their own digital equivalent of LEGO called LEGO Worlds as shown by the trailer below and what Steam call's the Early access version of the game - http://store.steampowered.com/app/332310/

Maybe it's just some of the people and community's I follow but, it's amazing how many things such as memes, gifs or videos that appear in my g+ stream which I saw posted or reposted 2 to 3 days earlier on reddit.

According to the weather forecaster on the +BBC News channel yesterday, today is meant to be the start of summer according to the meteorological calendar.

Me thinks somebody hasn't told the weather this judging by the wind and rain all day and the fact I just got soaked for the 3rd time today.

And the prize for numpty of the day goes to this bloke who earlier this year drove his go kart onto a dual carriageway.

UPDATE: video footage of the idiot - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpuPxWpZAxg
The man risked his life by driving the flimsy vehicle alongside cars, trucks and lorries - wearing a woolly hat instead of a helmet

Am I going mad?

Attempting to put the new bin days into my Google Calendar as I'm not always that good at remembering dates and the Merioinydd part of Gwynedd is going to green bin collection once every 3 weeks this month.

Bit in the middle at the top says recyclable bins are collected every week. Calendar below it contradicts it by saying that there's 1 or 2 weeks each month when there's no collection.

So my question is, am I misreading the information or have Gwynedd council done some sort of typo?

I know it was mentioned when Sir Terry Pratchett died but, found this on Amazon (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Shepherds-Crown-Discworld-Novels/dp/0857534815/ref=sr_1_5_twi_2_har?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1433227897&sr=1-5&keywords=terry+pratchett) confirming that his last ever Discworld book, if not his last ever book. will be arriving on bookshelves later this year.
