I have been too much a hermit of late. I am feeling the need to try once more to commune with humanoid people.

How does one do that again?

Just wanted to let anyone into RPGs know we've released a new episode of the CypherCast! In this one we interview the extraordinary writer and game designer +Shanna Germain about Monte Cook Games' current Kickstarter (Numenera 2: http://kck.st/2hfM9UT), Predation (a delightful pre-apocalyptic game with a time-displaced human civilization and lots of dinosaurs) and many other things!

It's been a while since I posted anything publicly here, hasn't it?

So, just to reassure anyone who might be concerned:

I am not dead. As far as I can tell.

I may wander out into the physical world later in an effort to make sure. Assuming it's still there. I looked out the window earlier and it kind of looks like there are things out there, but I shall have to check.

Sadly, I didn't have time this year to let my ideas cook properly, but if anyone's interested, here briefly are the underdone versions. I came up with two concepts.

1) The "cooperative Battleship" variant. Basically two players are stuck on either side of a wall, canyon or other border and must communicate with each other so that one of them can find the path to the other side. They can communicate via smoke signals or making loud noises that echo over to the other player. I thought perhaps also someone (a third player or just a game counter that moves on its own turn) is looking for them and they don't want to get caught, so they have to be careful about how they use the smoke and the echoes.

2) A driving game (played while you're in a car with at least one other person). You must spin a yarn (tell a tale) about something you see on a sign and you have until the car reaches a predetermined border to finish the story. The border can be whatever you like, depending on the length of the trip: cities, states, mile markers, etc. When you cross it, it's the next person's turn to spot a sign and tell a story.

That's as far as I got with either of these - I have a feeling there would have been more specific ingredient-based mechanics if I'd had time, but for what it's worth, there they are. Mayhap I'll have time to participate properly next year! :)

I feel like there's a sort of cooperative Battleship type thing in here somewhere but my brain is still twisting it around and trying to figure it out.
