Watch this just released video promoting the New Horizons mission to Pluto. On July 14th, NASA’s New Horizons mission will make its closest approach to the Pluto system, completing the first reconnaissance of the solar system’s major planets, begun over 50 years ago by NASA.
This video was commissioned by the National Space Society and can be viewed at http://youtu.be/aky9FFj4ybE
Also, I recently released some artwork of my own and wrote briefly about some talks I'll be giving in July. See the post at http://www.artsnova.com/blog/2015/06/13/1019/

Congratulations to the House of Representatives for passing the pro-space H.R. 2262 - Spurring Private Aerospace Competitiveness and Entrepreneurship (SPACE) Act.

Yesterday's vote was 284-133: 236 Republicans voted in favor and 3 against and 48 Democrats voted in favor and 130 against.

Rolled into this legislation were three other pro-space bills: H.R. 1508 on asteroid mining rights to materials, H.R. 2261 covering commercial remote sensing, and H.R. 2263 addressing the Office of Space Commercialization.

Complete details of this legislation are available at http://rules.house.gov/bill/114/hr-2262

Read about my review of Redbubble  and download a wallpaper version of a portrait of Damien Hirst I painted.

I set up an artist's account on Redbubble a long time ago but confess to never having really used it. By chance I happened upon a link by an artist on Google+ to their Redbubble profile – at which time I decided to think critically about Redbubble as a selling platform and whether or not I ...

Just wrote about converting my blog to a responsive web design format.
A Mobile Friendly Artsnova Blog

Last night I held my breath and swapped out my old blog theme files and CSS with the new responsive web design replacements I had just finished coding up. Why? Well, if you follow the news of the web then you are no doubt aware of the big change Google made last month (4/21 to be exact) to its ...

Participated in a review of the soon to be launched new version of the NASA JPL Solar System Exploration Website.
You can see the current web site here: http://solarsystem.nasa.gov
The most obvious change is that the new site is mobile friendly.

What's really sad is that it took an Italian astronaut to get an expresso machine to ISS. Just think how nice life would have been if Samantha Cristoforetti had gone up years earlier.  The photograph is of Samantha enjoying a "bag" of expresso.
Today an expresso machine. Tomorrow a coffee grinder!

I find it disturbing that the ranking Democrat on the House Science Space subcommittee thinks that NASA's priority should be to study the Earth rather than exploring space. Evidently Rep. Donna Edwards (D-Md.) is unaware that there is a government agency whose mission is to study the Earth's atmosphere and oceans. Its called NOAA - National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
