Introduction
Married to Angela, (29yrs) and father of three adult sons, James, Blair and Elliot, and grandfather of Stella Grace.  My role is to be wrong.

Our first website, ShopSafe.com was online in 1996. Since then we have added ShopSafe.com.au, ShopSafe.co.nz as well as a number of other ShopSafe-based tld's.

We regard ourselves as consumer advocates but I should first tell you what we cannot do. ShopSafe is a private company with no direct relationship with the merchants we list. We cannot instruct a listed merchant to do anything at all.

What we can do is remove a merchant from our listings. We are quite prepared to do this if we consider that a ShopSafe-listed merchant has not conducted a transaction with you in a fair, honest and business-like manner.

A listing on a ShopSafe website is valued by our listed merchants. We accept less than 40% of all applications for listing.

(Disclaimer: The ShopSafe group of websites (registered 1997) have no affiliation or association with the shopsafe credit card (commenced 2002) promoted by the Bank of America)

These links are relevant to "Bragging Rights" below. If you like what we do, please link to them too. :)

#IStandWithMariam
A Queensland woman has been sentenced to 180 hours of community service for a barrage of social media abuse towards a prominent Australian Muslim woman. Jay-Leighsa Bauman was charged with 'using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence' for anti-Islamic comments towards community advocate Mariam Veiszadeh in early January. Twenty-two-year-old Bauman’s tweets included describing Ms Veiszadeh as a “rag head”, “dirty Islamic scum” and ...

Uber is better for Uber but at what price?

Idle gossip and a few articles from around the web indicate that Uber treats its drivers badly and there is no recourse.

I think governments worldwide are missing the point of Uber and that governments should assume the Uber role and nosering the taxi companies into a larger, graded service.

What do you think? Given the QLD governments apparent inability to manage tech infrastructure, I don't think it will ever happen but I reckon government intervention and regulation is the logical course of action

Well, Uber is exploiting legislative cracks to operate a black market prostitution ring monopoly. Either it’s illegal and should stop, or it should be legalised and opened up to competitors. ‘Obviously’ the answer is the latter. I expect we can draw analogies with other service industries (e.g. Airlines, Hotels), and expect drivers to stratify (e.g. Qantas, Tigerair) with various booking services (e.g. Orbitz, WebJet). In this space, Uber would be positioned more like Airbnb than the pimp it currently is.

We have a problem in this country, from the Prime Minister down. For as long as we vote for mongrels willing to make cheap political capital out of demonising a segment of our population, we will always have xenophobic numpties believing they have a right to behave like animals.

I think Couriers Please might be the worst company for deliveries anywhere in Australia. Years ago, when LCD Monitors were newly-out and still cost about $1K, Couriers Please picked one up for us from a supplier but never delivered it. The pickup was still in their system the last time I looked a few years ago. They would not pay compensation They said, "It's not lost, it's late. There is nothing we can do. Try your insurance company." We receive up to twenty deliveries a day here via various companies and every now and then, one of our suppliers slips up and sends something via Couriers Please, despite our instructions. Whenever an item goes missing or is late, it's almost always Couriers Please. There was yet another incident today. That's why I am finally writing this review. :) If I could think of a motto based on more than a decade of unfortunate dealings with this company, it might be, "Stay safe, stay away from Couriers Please". :)

This hotel is a bargain if you choose your room carefully. Don't stay on the bottom floors if you do not like the sound of a train going past. You won't hear them on the higher floors, though, especially those with Harbour Bridge views on the opposite side of the hotel. Service is determined and faultless. :)

We wash our own cars but every now and then we call Fab to give them all some special love. It's great. Fab was here a few weeks ago but we still feel like we're driving around in new cars. BTW - when I said "all", I meant my sons' cars as well. We've only got one each. :)
