Introduction
Married to Angela, (30yrs) and father of three adult sons, James, Blair and Elliot, and grandfather of Stella Grace.  My role is to be wrong.

Our first website, ShopSafe.com was online in 1996. Since then we have added ShopSafe.com.au, ShopSafe.co.nz as well as a number of other ShopSafe-based tld's.

We regard ourselves as consumer advocates but I should first tell you what we cannot do. ShopSafe is a private company with no direct relationship with the merchants we list. We cannot instruct a listed merchant to do anything at all.

What we can do is remove a merchant from our listings. We are quite prepared to do this if we consider that a ShopSafe-listed merchant has not conducted a transaction with you in a fair, honest and business-like manner.

A listing on a ShopSafe website is valued by our listed merchants. We accept less than 40% of all applications for listing.

(Disclaimer: The ShopSafe group of websites (registered 1997) have no affiliation or association with the shopsafe credit card (commenced 2002) promoted by the Bank of America)

These links are relevant to "Bragging Rights" below. If you like what we do, please link to them too. :)

A couple of days ago he demonstrated that he doesn't even know the design of the flag he constantly flourishes. He called the Federation Star "the Commonwealth Star" and assigned it six points instead of the seven it has. This from a 'Rhodes Scholar'.

Did the Labor Conference improve Labor's chances of taking the next election?

I think so.  The big issues were (as always) carefully stage managed to give Bill Shorten the leadership authority and platform he needs to mount a case for election.

I think that even the supposed "failures" of the Left faction were managed to give Bill an appearance of strength.

Lots of principles and goals but lots of policies left unsaid - that says to me that they want the flexibility to respond to Abbott's fear campaign with as much room to move as possible.

I think the arguments were careful and respectful.  I don't agree with some of the outcomes but I think in answer to your question +Jim Munro , the end result was that Shorten looks like the leader

Attempting to shoehorn YouTube into Google+ was a profound mistake and now they are fixing it.

It's not just YouTube. Google+ is being unravelled. Why they are doing it is more interesting than what they are doing.
Google+ will no longer be an integral force for using Google products and services: it will become a Google product like many and any other.

Bill Shorten is talking tough at the keynote on the second day of the Labor conference.

I'm not sure that it will influence the dumb xenophobic racists who vote for the Liberal Party of Australia but at least it's a cause for hope.

I do somewhat admire the Labor parties ambition to secure a 50/50 split of coal and renewables by the year 2030, however, as we know if the regulations for new estates are not legislated: all new domestic properties to be 100% off grid, freestanding solar, small wind turbine backed by gas or diesel generators; the 50/50 will not happen cost effectively as the costs to private domestic property owners at a later date to "Combine" green energy to their homes while being tied to the cost demands (subsidies) to grid suppliers is too great. The costs to create supply to new residential estates makes building very expensive and the costs for off grid would actually lower the cost to build a new home in these areas. I don't understand the hesitation of the public more than the politicians hesitation, understandably the politicians have done deals with energy suppliers and take bribes (donations) that tie all our hands and fix the energy supply noose about our necks and keep the people ever begging for relief incentives, but, for the general public to resist the idea of off grid tells me all this green energy is possibly all B.S! also that Australians are actually fearful of self determination, independence and personal responsibility. They have become socialist and fascists.

Bill Shorten demonstrates that he just does not get it.

From the article: "Opposition Leader Bill Shorten will face a close contest at this weekend's national ALP conference when he asks for support to endorse a policy of turning back asylum seeker boats.

Despite previously criticising the Coalition's policy to turn back boats, Mr Shorten has now confirmed he is in favour of it.

"I think it's important to be honest with my party and the nation and, if I was to form a government, I would want the option of boat turn-backs where safe to do so on the table," Mr Shorten told Channel 7 this morning."

They work hard to get the sale organised and the goods delivered on time. They provide a good service and care about getting it right, it's hard to fault them.

I think Couriers Please might be the worst company for deliveries anywhere in Australia. Years ago, when LCD Monitors were newly-out and still cost about $1K, Couriers Please picked one up for us from a supplier but never delivered it. The pickup was still in their system the last time I looked a few years ago. They would not pay compensation They said, "It's not lost, it's late. There is nothing we can do. Try your insurance company." We receive up to twenty deliveries a day here via various companies and every now and then, one of our suppliers slips up and sends something via Couriers Please, despite our instructions. Whenever an item goes missing or is late, it's almost always Couriers Please. There was yet another incident today. That's why I am finally writing this review. :) If I could think of a motto based on more than a decade of unfortunate dealings with this company, it might be, "Stay safe, stay away from Couriers Please". :)

This hotel is a bargain if you choose your room carefully. Don't stay on the bottom floors if you do not like the sound of a train going past. You won't hear them on the higher floors, though, especially those with Harbour Bridge views on the opposite side of the hotel. Service is determined and faultless. :)

We wash our own cars but every now and then we call Fab to give them all some special love. It's great. Fab was here a few weeks ago but we still feel like we're driving around in new cars. BTW - when I said "all", I meant my sons' cars as well. We've only got one each. :)
