Introduction
Married to Angela, (29yrs) and father of three adult sons, James, Blair and Elliot, and grandfather of Stella Grace.  My role is to be wrong.

Our first website, ShopSafe.com was online in 1996. Since then we have added ShopSafe.com.au, ShopSafe.co.nz as well as a number of other ShopSafe-based tld's.

We regard ourselves as consumer advocates but I should first tell you what we cannot do. ShopSafe is a private company with no direct relationship with the merchants we list. We cannot instruct a listed merchant to do anything at all.

What we can do is remove a merchant from our listings. We are quite prepared to do this if we consider that a ShopSafe-listed merchant has not conducted a transaction with you in a fair, honest and business-like manner.

A listing on a ShopSafe website is valued by our listed merchants. We accept less than 40% of all applications for listing.

(Disclaimer: The ShopSafe group of websites (registered 1997) have no affiliation or association with the shopsafe credit card (commenced 2002) promoted by the Bank of America)

These links are relevant to "Bragging Rights" below. If you like what we do, please link to them too. :)

+Ron Brown I'm sorry, but if you being forced to vaccinates saves children from an unessicary and completely preventable death, then it would be worth it. You can disagree with my view on compulsory vaccination, but you can't deny that lives, especially those of children, are important.

Just wanted to confirm that the rumors are true -- I’m excited to be running Google’s Photos and Streams products!  It’s important to me that these changes are properly understood to be positive improvements to both our products and how they reach users.

Congratulations! You have subscribed to Naughty Dogs.
Those messages and calls from unknown numbers at odd hours, promising riches and fool-proof plans of making money are how some people make their daily bread, although we’re not sure if anyone actually falls for that stuff ever. What is for certain though, is how annoying and pointless the messages can be, and a stranger [...]

The internet has not been a boon to truth, now we just have more data to confuse people with. - Avinash Kaushik.

I am in too many meetings related to digital marketing and analytics, that should not surprise you. What might surprise you is how frequently I'll see the below Dilbert come to life.

The internet has not been a boon to truth, now we just have more data to confuse people with. And what's heart-breaking is how we all seem to have lost our ability to use our natural skepticism of crap and common sense in these situations.

Just because there is a number on a pretty slide does not make it true. Even if it is being presented by an authoritative person. Even if the slide has copious footnotes, with references to authoritative sources. (That last one is perhaps an even better reason to be doubtful!).

People: Be, a tiny bit skeptical (without being rude). And, never lose sight of your common sense!

The view from Mort Bay in Balmain, Sydney. There's a lovely walk around the bay to the old Caltex site, which is now a park with stunning views of the harbour and city.

It's the same in almost every democratic country.

If we must take back control of our democracies from the lobbyists, where should we start?

Looks like everyone in Australia with have their own personal Metadata file, automatically updated with every digital step you take, kept for 2 years, accessible without warrant, used to profile and prosecute you. Thanks Labor and Liberal. Australia does not need or want this.

There's a great Reddit thread with calls to Senators to oppose this Law. https://www.reddit.com/comments/2xalih

"The information will be restricted to use in criminal cases. But the Attorney-General can allow its use in civil proceedings, at his discretion, which could open the floodgates for copyright holders trying to track down illegal downloads of movies and music."

Without Labor support, this bill wouldn't have seen the light of day. So on this issue they are as one, then there's The Intervention, asylum seekers, foreign detention centres, work for the dole, uranium exports... I'm sure you could expand the list.

I think Couriers Please might be the worst company for deliveries anywhere in Australia. Years ago, when LCD Monitors were newly-out and still cost about $1K, Couriers Please picked one up for us from a supplier but never delivered it. The pickup was still in their system the last time I looked a few years ago. They would not pay compensation They said, "It's not lost, it's late. There is nothing we can do. Try your insurance company." We receive up to twenty deliveries a day here via various companies and every now and then, one of our suppliers slips up and sends something via Couriers Please, despite our instructions. Whenever an item goes missing or is late, it's almost always Couriers Please. There was yet another incident today. That's why I am finally writing this review. :) If I could think of a motto based on more than a decade of unfortunate dealings with this company, it might be, "Stay safe, stay away from Couriers Please". :)

This hotel is a bargain if you choose your room carefully. Don't stay on the bottom floors if you do not like the sound of a train going past. You won't hear them on the higher floors, though, especially those with Harbour Bridge views on the opposite side of the hotel. Service is determined and faultless. :)

We wash our own cars but every now and then we call Fab to give them all some special love. It's great. Fab was here a few weeks ago but we still feel like we're driving around in new cars. BTW - when I said "all", I meant my sons' cars as well. We've only got one each. :)
