The tree scraping against my window sounds exactly like a Commodore 1571 drive. I found myself subconsciously hoping my game would load soon...

Kicking off the quarter with LEGOs, and getting paid to do it... that's the Remilon way! We did our first LEGO-based Scrum process training / team building event last week, and here's what we came up with.

In the course of 3 short sprints, just 7 minutes each, half the company estimated, planned, designed, built, tested and deployed the small LEGO town of Remilburg. Consisting of 7 houses, an elementary school, a bus station, a very large park and sufficient infrastructure, it's the seed of what could become a very prosperous locale.

During our first sprint none of the 4 teams completed the work they forecast they could complete, but after that (and some additional negotiation with the Product Owner) they kicked things into high gear, started working together, and started delivering. I've already referenced the event during our regular work meetings, and will likely continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

Next time I hope to involve the entire company and build out a bigger city with houses with a little more style which are less... (if I'm being generous) ... utilitarian!

Read the slide, think about the information that's out there about you, and go make a donation to the +Electronic Frontier Foundation  ; they're doing good work trying to make everyone's private lives more... well... private:

What's better than staying home on a breezy French afternoon in the 17th century?  How about Empire and Expansion in the 18th Century, a time of tumultuous change?

The After School Club.  That's where I found myself when it came time to studying -- not understanding, just "learning" -- chemical bonds in high school. That experience pretty much kept me from pursuing anything Chemistry-related in college. (Spoiler alert:  Things turned out OK!)

Here, courtesy of +Education Portal , are the lessons -- part of our AP Chemistry exam prep course -- that I wish I would have had access to way back in the day...

Everyone needs to brush up on their knowledge of DNA sequencing from time to time, and this 10 minute video explains one of the earliest methods scientists used.

It's one of the hundreds of biology lessons available at +Education Portal to help you earn college credit, augment a course you're currently taking (or plan to), or even just scratch that "I just have to know" itch.
