Do you worry about getting sick every time you hear someone sneeze nearby?
When the body is under attack by super-villains like bacteria and viruses, monocytes show up to save the day!
These superheroes are the largest and most powerful white blood cells in the human immune system. One of their special attacks is transforming into a macrophage, which allows them to 'munch' on the bad guys. They also use parts of the invading bacteria as a signal to other white blood cells. This announces that there is danger, and creates a team of super-hero defense! Learn More: http://bit.ly/1N5QJNM

"We live in a tech-based world and integrating technology into my lessons is key to keeping my younger students interested. When it came to the adults I taught online, however, I had to rethink that approach."

Have you ever said to yourself, why don't those SETI researchers just...? We're listening -- send your ideas for other approaches.

As part of the Breakthrough Listen Initiative, a subcommittee of the Breakthrough Listen Advisory Committee has been established to consider new ideas for SETI search strategies and/or detector concepts. We'd very much like to hear from you about any new approaches to finding evidence of extraterrestrial technological civilizations that could be fruitfully pursued over the coming decade.

Please send a one page (no more) description of your ideas with specific attention paid to: New parameter space to be explored; Hardware and/or software required; Current status of any prototyping or trial runs; Any new technology barriers at this time; Scale of the effort -- estimates of resources, time to completion, and costs; Any other scientific opportunities enabled by this new approach.

This request is an attempt to assure that the subcommittee is informed about all viable approaches to conducting this exciting scientific exploration. We'd like to be able to think strategically and plan wisely for the future. Descriptions that reach us by 15 August, 2016 will be incorporated into the subcommittee's deliberations later that week.

Respectfully,

Jill Tarter
