Perhaps next year we'll get a Nexus R... or Nexus Qube?

Remember Bigelow Aerospace's orbital modules from several years back?  It's time to launch again -- this time to the space station.
The Bigelow Expandable Activity Module (BEAM) is expected to head to the orbiting lab inside SpaceX's Dragon cargo spacecraft in 2015. The BEAM mission will test out expandable-habitat technology, NASA officials have said.

I'm sorry, that looks more like a big keg to me, or a big popcorn barrel.

I just saw that +Bruce Johnson and +Joel Webber are presenting at GWT.create in January.  I've always appreciated the clarity and usefulness of their presentations at past talks (for instance, at early Google IOs) so I'm looking forward to seeing them in action once again.

I'm not a geology guy, but rock behaving this way is worth sharing - and it's short.
You’d watch paint dry if it did this every once in a while.

After 15 long years being a loyal #Sprint customer, it looks like it's time to move on.

I was "that guy" on a carnival ride that dropped his phone and smashed the glass (and digitizer), all the while counting down the months to get the next Nexus phone.

Sprint won't sell me one of their Moto G's as a "bridge phone" on my current plan to keep me around until the Nexus comes out, so now I'm considering any carrier or plan with an inexpensive KitKat phone that I can get rid of when the Nexus comes along.  (The Moto G is for their prepaid plans, not mine, so they won't sell it to me.)

Any recommendations out there?  Maybe a good pre-paid plan with modest data?  (The G is only 3G, not 4G, so it's not like I'll be sucking up the bytes!)

I'm glad Elite: Dangerous is coming out after the new Civilization : Beyond Earth so I don't have to choose which to play right away.  Even so, I imagine I will be spending a lot of time in space in the new year.

#GWT  2.7 is coming out soon, but like a few places I'm aware of, my organization is still running GWT 2.4 with GXT 2.X.  While I'd love to upgrade both the GWT version and especially GXT (it's been out for years and fixes so many inconsistencies it had with GWT), the sheer amount of code we'd have to change to get back to where we are is too expensive to take on right now.

I just pushed out GWT 2.7.0-beta1, please start testing and give us feedback: https://groups.google.com/d/msg/Google-Web-Toolkit-Contributors/vCELYDM2_tE/tFDJQDGQuA4J

The #NexusQ  is really just over two years old - it seems like support was dropped ages ago.  It's a shame, really, maybe someone will get #AndroidTV   running on it?

I have mine set up in my basement, speakers connected, ready to go... As soon as I can get an os on it that makes it work.

Not sure about you, but I'd be thrilled to see a reboot of Blake's 7.

Before Firefly, before Farscape, this band of criminals aboard a solitary (and enigmatic) spaceship was fighting another ubiquitous authoritarian regime; theirs was a story with a climax at least as emotionally charged as either of those shows, even if the special effects weren't as advanced as the others.

Let's hope we have an opportunity to Blake in action again!

The Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) is the third closest galaxy to the Milky Way, with the Sagittarius Dwarf Spheroidal and the putative Canis Major Dwarf Galaxy. The Large Magellanic Cloud is about 163,000 light-years away from our galaxy and in galactic terms it's pretty close. Vast clouds of gas within it slowly collapse to form new stars. In turn, these light up the gas clouds in a riot of colors, visible in this image from the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope.
