Ah, sad to hear that BKS Iyengar has passed away. Paul Geffen, it was you that introduced me to Light on Yoga - plenty long ago by now. It is like a pillar of the world has crumbled. May the light of his inspiration shine ever brighter in the world. May he take rebirth in a pure realm and effortless reach unbounded consciousness.

music is vast!
Over the last few weeks, I've become increasingly preoccupied with the atonal mysticism of the Viennese composer Josef Matthias Hauer (1883-1959), a marginalised figure in 20th century music. If he...

If such problems were limited to Camden it would be bad enough, but the reality is, this is just too common:

I completely agree Jim. There has been a false debate over whether regulation is good or bad rather than what does a law need to be positive for the community at large. If I weren't so lazy I would work on some sort of real option analysis of implementing regulation.

Ken Deffeyes suggested, in his book "Hubbert's Peak", that the East China Sea would be his #1 candidate for a possible last big petroleum discovery.

China: On The Verge of Conflict over Gas?

Is an unplanned military incident imminent? China sends warplanes to new air defence zone which covers territory claimed by China, Japan, Taiwan and South Korea. The zone includes a groups of islands known as Diaoyu in Chinese and Senkaku by Japan.  The mi2g Intelligence Unit wonders if this  is really about vast reserves of energy at the Chunxiao/Shirakaba gas field? Look at the map carefully…

exploring a Buddhist perspective on science and technology
Introduction
I studied physics in school and then worked in the semiconductor industry, developing design tools - software used by engineers. Nowadays I am developing control software for electric power utilities.

I also actively practice Buddhism.

One of my long time hobbies is the exploration of alternative musical tunings.
