Here is a new video from taken over a period of two years. The images are awesome - you can see the fog flow like water over the Bay Area. The lime-lapse definitely enhances the visual effect of the fluid flow, but those who have spent much time in San Francisco have seen the fog "roll in" in real time.
The images were taken in the morning over a period of two years. Christen writes that he made his decision to get up at 5am the night before, based on whether he thought that the weather was likely to produce incoming fog. He made his fog forecast based on his own reading of satellite images, weather forecasts, webcams, etc. So atmospheric science and weather forecasting - both the government's support of satellite's and computer models, and Christen's own intuition - played a big role in making this video possible.
