Apache httpd reverse proxy, now with even more special goodness.

http://jimjag.com/imo/index.php?/archives/266-Apache-httpd-Reverse-Proxy.html
I've always considered the reverse proxy capability of Apache httpd as one of the real (hidden) gems of the web server. Of course, httpd has a lot of gems: multiple MPMs; a plethora of content creation and rewriting capabilities; dynamic loadable modules; performance and concurrency easily ...

Yes, it is true. I've moved on from Red Hat to accept a position as Sr. Director in Capital One's Tech Fellows program.

There's a nice write-up about how CapOne is migrating from "just a bank" to a "technology company that just happens to be a bank" and they realize that Open Source is vital to that mission.

At this point, technology is unavoidable. Every company must either operate as a software business now, or be moving in that direction, or risk becoming irrelevant

So in less than 2 weeks, I'll be in beautiful Raleigh NC for the All Thinks Open (#ATO2105) Open Source Conference. I'll be speaking about Open Source licenses, so if you are confused about them, or curious about them, I encourage you to attend!

I will also be having a door prize raffle, so every person who attends my talk will get a chance on winning the surprise prize.

Fully agreed on your GitHub comments. It's a fabulous tool. But it skips the notion of a community working together.

Dear Java Community... I hate to say it, but we (Apache) told you so! Once the control and direction of Java was out of the community's hands, it was just a matter of time.

The mod_h2 HTTP/2 module for Apache httpd, long in trunk, has been backported to 2.4.17-dev and will be included in the next release, which I plan on doing within the next 2 weeks.

This is the real notice! Amongst all the craziness, my latest Vlog entry (a 2 parter). It's all about observations regarding the apparent decline in open source of passion and the need for vigilance. Subscribe and Like!

The amount of FUD in this blog post is staggering! Calling Apache httpd 'monolithic' is FUD of the highest degree. And it's not even the worst example of it in the post.

It's sad that nginx needs to stoop to such misrepresentation to make its case. Is this an example of what happens when Open Source is driven by Open Core? It's all about revenue at any cost, even FUD.

Son I am disappoint

New Vlog post: 'Java, and the Shadow of Sun'. How Oracle is simply following the Sun Microsystems playbook. A look back on how much of Sun's legacy as an open source leader is really warranted.

Still working on Part 2 of my Open Source: Passion and Vigilance Vlog mini-series (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Em32s6qtRuQ). So much to discuss and trying to whittle it down. Might even need to make it a 3 parter. Thx for your patience!
