I'm trying to be the best person I can be while enjoying what life has to offer. In my opinion, it's all about "Making Memories". Have fun, smile, laugh, be positive and don't "sweat the small stuff".
I'm not sure that I could be considered a "techie geek", but I sure do keep up to date and enjoy playing with the latest and greatest. If I had an unlimited budget, I'd definitely buy more "toys" and "gadgets". However, financial sanity often prevails, and I make sure that I strike a balance as best I can. I have found myself using Google "stuff" more and more... given that I have an Android phone and a couple of tablets, to go along with my Samsung Chromebook. It is great how everything works so well together. I am definitely a fan of syncing via the cloud... and Google is leading the way in that regard.
I've enjoyed photography for a long, long time. Like most enthusiasts, I went from using a 35mm film SLR to the digital equivalent. In fact, I am still using an old Minolta 5D (the digital equivalent of the 35mm Minolta film SLR I used for many years), with some semi-new lenses. It is not the latest and greatest, but as a lot of "true" photographers will probably agree... it is not always the camera that makes a spectacular photo. What is most important is how you compose the shot, and whether you know how to get the best out of the equipment you are using. For now, that old workhorse more than suffices. I also use my smartphone camera quite a bit.
Ever since I was a little boy, I have enjoyed cars. From Matchbox cars to plastic models to tinkering with them as I got older, I have always been interested in them. I am the type that usually can spot what make and model a particular car is... just by looking at the front, back, side or even the interior! Over the years, I have owned a variety of different vehicles. I am partial to German cars... more specifically Audi and Porsche... but anything of great style and performance intrigues me. I have participated in many different driving events over the years... road rallies, autocrosses, on-track advanced driver education, winter-driving schools, cross-country group excursions, and safety clinics. I have driven on the autobahn in Germany at 140 mph (which was the fastest that the rental car would go!!), and have attended an advanced driving school with Audi at the Nurburgring! Loads of fun!!
After reading David Allen's book "Getting Things Done", I was inspired to make a change in how I manage my life. I implemented the GTD philosophies and strategies via Evernote... and it really helps keep my life in focus and balance. I use Evernote as an extension of my brain, and the manner in which I have implemented GTD through it, I am able to keep my sanity while being much more effective and efficient.
I enjoy just about any kind of music (from heavy metal to classical, and all the genres in between)... especially if it is good quality music. I don't like music that is heavily contrived... you know the kind... where the artist has very little musical talent, but due to some great magic in the studio... they sound "great".
Knowledge Share/Education: Although I attended college, I believe in being a self-taught individual. Most of what I've learned in life has been through my own desire and effort to learn... either by reading or by trial and error.
Reading: I tend to read self-help, motivational, personal-development books. I love to learn...and am constantly striving to improve and grow as a person. I know that there is a lot of great literature out there that I would probably enjoy... but with a limited amount of time, I just don't give fiction a priority. Maybe when I finally retire... :-)
Social Media: Ever since the internet began, I have been intrigued by the concept of bringing people together "virtually". For the most part, I think it is great. Sure... there are positives and negatives, but overall, the pros outweigh the cons. You can find me all over the internet... on all of the major sites, as well as via search engines...just hanging out...sharing life...living and learning...and making memories.
Google+: This has become my default profile page for my own domain... and is my main source nowadays for online content consumption and interaction. I am slowly building my profile and presence. I will often circle people that I find interesting via their profile description... or that post entertaining or informative content. If a person remains faceless, with no description and has not posted anything at all, I usually don't circle them. The purpose of the site is to view content... learn and share entertaining tidbits of life... and engage in meaningful, enjoyable dialogue. I will not circle people that are mean, vindicative, hateful, spiteful, nasty, arrogant, rude or... need I say more? Most folks know the type I am talking about. Life's too short to deal with all that negativity and hurtfulness.
Well.. if you have read this far, you should have a fairly good idea of who I am. Thanks for taking the time to read through it all. Hopefully you will find that I am "worthy to circle" and we can begin sharing life together... albeit "virtually".
Have a great day!! See you around!!
