From this summer's Mayhem Festival.  Show opener Thrown in Exile performs shortly after the doors were opened but for those lucky (and smart) enough to get right in... well, they were blown away.

Sometimes after shooting, I chill out and record a short video clip (with permission).  I am beginning to do this more and more.

John Popper of +Blues Traveler.  I was a huge fan of Blues Traveler and saw them first back in 1992 (HORDE).  John had a lot of energy and kept himself well hydrated throughout the show.  His voice was a lot better than I expected and the band seemed tight.

Nice capture ....I shot him once outdoors here in Waimea at the end of film days and was actually TOO close for my cheap 300mm f5.6 and didn't bring another lens. I dig shooting concerts, but never make more than a newspaper assignment wage at it.   OHHHH  I notice your logo. Mine is actually very similar. just the j and g together looking more like an anchor or 2 fish hooks, but similar shaped letters. Had to design it as personal logo in college adv art class in 1968 or 9. Used on my hand made jewelry. good luck jg

Well, my camera does video apparently, so instead of photographing the whole concert - occasionally I switch over to video and record a clip.  This is the King of the Blues at 87 years young... hope you enjoy.

Be careful taking video of performances. This enters a whole different area of copyright and intellectual property law. Being approved for a photo pass doesn't mean its OK to record video and/or audio. I'm no lawyer, but I wouldn't want anyone here to get nailed for illegally reproducing a live music performance.

Story
Tagline
Concert/Music photographer covering all genres
Introduction
Jim ‘JT’ Gilbert has been a photographer on and off since he was 10 years old. After concentrating on landscapes and portraits, Jim turned his focus to music photography. In doing so, Jim has become known throughout New York State as one of the top concert photographers on the scene. Music photography made a lot of sense as he has been an avid concert goer for most of his life.  In the past year, he has photographed over 200 bands including legends such as BB King, Charlie Daniels, Phil Lesh and Rob Zombie; his work covers all genres of music. He has been able to be on-stage to shoot many world-renowned acts and continues to love photographing up-and-coming acts that come through the region.
