Despite the peel ply and vigorous squeegee'ing, I've had some problems getting the roving (24 oz. biaxial knitted fiberglass) to lay completely in contact with substrate. Some bubbles form - in one case I've had to cut/grind away and redo. So I finally set up a vacuum bag on the hull/deck repair I did today. Worked great, but difficult to do in some situations. Not aware of any other tricks, short of maybe letting epoxy get real sticky before hand, which has its own problems. Used an old medical vacuum machine.

Latest photos of the boat. Beginning to work on outside a bit - getting ready to fiberglass the cabin sides and patches.

Daggerboards nearly done. Still need to glass leading/trailing edges, sand and fair, then paint. Process shows various stages of vacuum bagging fiberglass, bagging core onto that, flattening, and gluing halves together.

The starboard hull state plus work now on port hull - added stairs (ladder), cabin side coved and roved on inside, and V-berth underway.

hello Andrew! So far so good. Still plugging away on the boat - fun project. VA is a big change from what you are used to - go hear some good old time music. Hope you are doing well.

Cutting 34 oz. triaxial fiberglass for the daggerboards. Boatshed is a bit chilly.
